At some point in your life you're given a choice. It's a pivotal choice. You can change the entire course of your life with it. Life or death, glory or ruin, good or evil. Which will you choose? Hopefully it's the right decision.
This meme is for the concept of choice and your characters making decisions. Say there's a point in canon where they're given a choice and they take one. What would happen if they took the other? What would change? Would things go better or worse? Explore at your leisure. Alternatively, come up with a new choice to make. Which is more likely? Which is more exciting? Explore both in different threads if you want! No one can tell which is the right decision but you.
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

❧ Renfri opts to leave Blaviken, either legitimately or as a ruse to draw Stregobor out ❧ Reports of her death turn out to be greatly exaggerated ❧ Maybe there really was something to that whole curse thing after all (uh oh) ❧ Wildcard! If you've got an idea, toss it my way!
Open to castmates or crosscanon, gen or shipping are both fine!]
[I love the idea that they fake her death. And he kills off all her hangers on for her. Then Stregobor pays Geralt for killing her. I just have in my mind that they meet up in the woods and he splits the money with her on the way out of town. What do you think?]
[I'm always here for "talked down from camlann" AUs; but also I am so here for the other-person's-choice road-not-taken of Arthur having raised this goober??]
[ The Moiroi had left him be for the eons since Greece's power waned and he had quit Arcadia, and it was telling that they only buzzed in his ear again when he finds the boy left in the wood like a changeling child.
Leave him be they murmur, but surely they should know by now that if you tell Pan to do one thing he's likely to do another entirely.
It's been some years since he emerged from the trees with barely a rustle, and only one of them has visibly aged. It's the one who ventures to the edge of the forest and looks out and wonders. It's not him. ]
which is 100% an option, but i'm also open to other terrible possibilities out there. as a heads up as usual: cw: child abuse/hallucinations come with atsushi, although other cwscan come up, so lmk if you'd like to avoid those or not. )
[so there’s this book I read where Ophelia ended up preggo with Hamlet’s secret marriage baby and she faked her death and went to a convent and Horatio found her after all the shot went down
Alternatively, just. A lot of hugs after the shit goes down please????]
[I see what you’re saying and yes that; especially something with maybe only the girls staying behind in Narnia for sad or all four of them happy Golden Age times with babaroos for happy but also
Consider them both going into completely separate entities of government work and running into one another on some mission and suddenly Lu realizes big sister’s Secret Work she doesn’t want to talk about is actually in fact being a hella spy
Luke took the lightsaber into his hands, turning it over and over with an unreadable look, almost as if it was entirely unfamiliar to him. The girl certainly was, and for the first time since arriving on the island, Luke felt the call of the Force beyond his carefully constructed barriers. He could, in an instant, know exactly who she was and why she was here. He could know what she wanted.
But he knew that already, didn't he? Without even asking. Part of him wished to pretend none of it had happened. She had not arrived in Han's ship. She hadn't found him. She hadn't handed him Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber. His slow dead could continue uninterrupted, and all he had to do was toss the saber over his shoulder and pass by as if she'd never come. He almost did.
Then he made the mistake of looking at her again, and something stopped him. Her eyes, maybe, so full of a ferocity he'd seen before--in Ben's eyes, yes, but also in Leia's. He'd turned his back on his nephew once. He'd let a moment of fear dictate the course of both their lives. Could he do that again?
"Where did you get this?" His voice was rough and hoarse from disuse, the words torn from his lips by the wind whipping around the craggy promontory on which they stood.
[ So at 16 she killed her scumbag father & left school at 16 to go become that one assassin OC everyone had at one point, and I love the idea of her choosing to go ahead instead with what she actually wanted to do with her life. Which, in this case would mean her having finished school, left home to attend university, and becoming a violinist in an orchestra.
(It also means her surname would remain as 'Loveless', since she only changed it after the aforementioned patricide)
So sure, she still has issues for days, but at least she gets to do what she loves! ]
[ No shortage of options here - from refusing to follow a 'traditional' Force user path and taking after her father (or a different path entirely), to events at the training academy not happening or happening differently (I probably have at least half a dozen AU ideas from that canon point tbh), to her taking a darker route in TROS. Good with variance from any point in canon. Any/all canonmates, AUs, cross canon welcome. ]
[ Ciri and Yen, off on some harebrained adventure? C: It might be easier picking their point in the show first, then decide on the scenario. I'm good with taking Yen at any point, even if it's stumbling on Ciri after she nukes the Nilfgaardian army. ]
[ very fond of multi-protag AUs, so there's some options for alternate ways the Mage Origin could play out: locked up somewhere in the Circle to await punishment and stranded there during Broken Circle, to be recruited by the actual Warden or whoever finds her? escaped, either with Jowan or before any of that even happened, and made her way to Denerim/Redcliffe/A Random Encounter event? or going back further: sent to another Circle instead of Kinloch Hold? Ostwick, the Gallows, the White Spire? or the Amells successfully hid her magic and never fell from power so she remained a secret apostate in Kirkwall? ]
