THE TAROT MEME

This meme is pretty basic. You post in, put any specifics you'd like (or not like) in your header and entry, ???, and RP. For the prompts, however, you've got two methods for ideas.

The island was small, but there were still places to hide. When she wasn't doggedly following Luke - trying to get the old master's will to crack by the force of her dour frown in his periphery alone, when she didn't want to be with the tree, or stare at the curved rooftops of the domed stone huts anymore Rey went to the other side of the island. Away from the Falcon and the chatter of the caretakers and the weight of a legacy she had all but fallen into. She retreated to a rocky strip of coast she had to scale her way down the side of a ridge to access. There was a sense of quiet here - this whole island was rich with the Force but on this stretch of shoreline, where wet, flat grey rocks bore the brunt of endless waves it felt less like a thrum and more like a gentle brush of a hand or a long night's sleep.

Distantly she could feel the darkness of the cave, and even here with rock and sand underfoot the ancient tree's roots were not far away, singing to the earth it grew so expansively into, leaving ripples in the Force. The power of the island with all its pieces was background noise here, where stillness seemed to rule everything but the waves and the wind. Rey had scaled up one of the taller rocks to sit on top out of the range of the waves to stare out at the endless water beyond. She had wondered in her rare idle moments about finding the few other islands that dappled this oceanic world sparsely.

There was so much work to be done, and so much weight to pull around with her as she did it. She was just a nobody who had entered a store room she shouldn't have to rifle through another person's belongings. Usually trespassing didn't change the lives of the people doing it as drastically as it had Rey's - who had found herself upended and thrown into a story that felt at times like it was half her own, and half someone else's.

As lost as she felt, as uncertain as to what would happen if Luke decided to continue to reject her, it was the right thing to do. Rey felt it down to her bones that she was still going the right way, even if the road ahead was obscured, even if she worried she was just groping around in a dark room and telling herself it would all be okay. Narrowing her eyes at the horizon she drew her legs to her chest, cheeks puffing out as she exhaled a long slow breath. She could do this. She would do this.

When it happened she recognized it immediately, that moment where the air pressure dipped slightly and all sounds became muffled. The disorienting of one reality to accommodate another somewhere across the stars. Rey didn't bother to look before she spoke, knowing he was there and would hear her. "Not right now."

She hated that ripple of relief that accompanied the knowledge of his presence and fought to stamp it out as soon as it appeared. Weariness made it difficult, but the scavenger was nothing if not tenacious.
