Always trash for arranged marriage AUs

Arranged Marriage Turned More To have and to hold, you said, till death do us part, all while the sharp, swinging pendulum of obligation hung overhead. But how could you have truly meant those words? This union has been tainted from the start, forever bearing the chains of an arranged marriage. It would be understandable if you couldn't bear to look at your new life partner, eternal reminder of your stolen future that they are, much less like them. Much less love them... Still, things can change. You could realize that they are in the same boat as you or, that when compared to others around you, they are the lesser of evils. Perhaps you even open up to the idea of a friendship; at the very least, an alliance may be in order to become a power couple in a perilous world. From that innocent decision or sense of self-preservation, a new feelings sparks. Something like affection. Something, you realize in the wake of speeding heartbeats, like love. Will you acknowledge this? Can the two of you have a happily ever after - happier than if you'd met in another fashion - or will you hold firm in your distaste? how to play. - Everybody loves "couples forged by less-than-ideal circumstances" tropes! - Comment with your character, prefs, all that good stuff. - Reply to others. - IDEC where you set your threads, it's wide open. Fantasy world with hairy hobbits, old-timey lands, future AUs, do a space marriage for all I care. I'm sure they're still getting married in Star Wars or whatever.

( was there ever a point in time where yuki was in control of his destiny? it always seemed that since the day he was born, he had been destined to be under the thumb of the curse, always at the mercy of others whims and desires- but most of all always forced to do what akito commanded.

somehow or another, their clan had gained more and more power over time. each member on the inside was pawned off like a chess piece, either forced to marry someone powerful or forced into exile. normally yuki would prefer to be exiled but the stronghold akito had over him eventually made him surrender.

when the time came, yuki was polite. he had no intentions of being a cruel husband or even infringing upon rapunzel in anyway- he made it clear she was free to do as she pleased. if she felt like being with someone else, he would have certainly allowed it. after all it was difficult for him to get close to anyone due to the curse- anyone who hugged him from the opposite gender would reveal his ability to transform into a mouse.

so after the wedding he kept his distance for the most part. he wasn't sure if he would reveal his secret to her, but for now he played the part. when they had to be seen together, he was polite and kind. when they were in private, he was respectful but distant. he had nothing against her- she was incredibly beautiful, seemingly nice, and it appeared everyone liked her. however his heart was frozen, walled up to protect himself.

little by little though, the ice around his heart began to melt. it began when she tried to reach out to him more; in those moments he saw what warmth and kindness could be. then before yuki knew it, the two were slowly becoming friends. finally he was able to see that when she hugged him, the curse did not transform him. eventually before he knew it, they were sleeping together in the same bed as husband and wife.

he was still a bit closed up, his feelings becoming tangled and he was unsure of himself now. this girl who he had been forced to marry was suddenly becoming more than just that. )

( it had been a quiet day today, the sky was filled with dark and heavy clouds threatening to break at any point. they had decided to stay in and organize the home they shared. at some point they would receive a visit from both their families and while it was something yuki never really was into, he did try to play the part.

right now they had been taking a break, the smell of tea and baked goods filled their home. )

Amusement where neither realizes the other is their intended so they've been moping until they find out? Figure it's been sold to them both as 'hey this is good for helping cement the Ishgard/Eorzea in general alliance' which of course they'd both go with because they're Good Boys?
