4. FUCK EVERYONE. Yeah, this is getting old. Living without consequences was fun for a while, but now you're ready to move on. Maybe it'll help you to cause a little mayhem. It's not like they'll remember tomorrow, anyway, is it? And misery does love company...

5. A LITTLE STIR-CRAZY. A bit like a do anything day, except now you're just going insane. Do out-of-character shit, anything to shake it up and relieve the tension.

6. GIVE UP. Maybe the only way out of this loop thing is to kill yourself inventively. Who knows?

7. LEARN SOMETHING FOR THE HELL OF IT. Might as well make use of your time, right? Maybe you should learn to play an instrument or paint a mural. You have all the time in the world to practice, after all.

8. TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS. Instead of screwing everyone over, maybe it's time to use your knowledge to make everyone else's day a little better. Someone should be happy, right?

9. LAST LOOP. Whatever it is you needed to learn, do, or accomplish, this is the one where you finish it. This is the day that counts. Don't screw it up.

10. THE DAY AFTER. Is that... is it tomorrow?! HALLELUJAH! Now time to start dealing with consequences again. Right after you finish dancing on that calender.

[ Will had foolishly tried to mark the days on his own skin after the first week. He'd had the notion that since he couldn't affect the world, but his own memories carried over, that maybe he could keep this with him into the next day.

It hadn't worked. But it turned out he didn't need it to. Will knows it's been twenty-four days, couldn't forget the number if he tried. It's imprinted in him, beats with his heart as he tries yet another path past the familiar store fronts in a nicer section of Chicago. Familiar not because Will lives around here — he doesn't, he'd traveled for work — but because that's where his hotel room had been. A month has been plenty of time to feel the rhythm of this city.

Which is why, as his mental health crackles and sparks at the edges, he notices the only other variable thing here.

Will has a gun that he usually keeps back in his hotel room. He's brought it today; FBI-issued glock, heavy despite being a handgun. But he leaves it in his holster as he reaches out a hand and grabs the wrist of your character. Sharp, jagged movements, too much terrified anger behind them to consider it a controlled thing. Will's stare is desperate right beneath the shine of his anger, teeth showing. ]

Who are you? You're the only other person who— you're the only one who changes every day. Are you, are you stuck here too? Do you know what's happening? [ That anger is dissolving rapidly into a desperate plea for help. Sorry, stranger...especially if he's wrong.

[ It goes a little slow motion for him, this encounter. The second adrenaline pumps for the very first time he's in motion, with enough control over himself that he doesn't immediately try and break the arm of the person grabbing his wrist. Can't exactly remember how long it took to break that instinct, but he's doing well enough mentally to stop himself immediately after his arm stiffens up beneath the touch.

What might startle the both of them is the fact that at some point between the words who and person, his left hand found its way to the subtle handgun holster on Will's person and wound itself around the handle. He hasn't pulled it out yet, didn't really make the conscious decision to grab it, and it takes a few blinks for this whole situation to replay in proper order for him to comprehend.

So there they stand in the middle of a rushing crowd like two people trying to slow dance, hand on wrist, hand at holster, drawn up to their most defensive postures and assessing the whites of each other's eyes waiting for the words to form.

Will Graham, not for the first time in his life, sounds like a complete fucking lunatic to a stranger.

Used to be guys like this would carry a cardboard sign around and talk about the end of times - hell of a lot darker, but at least it was less invasive.

It takes real, honest to god work to get his metal fingers to slowly loosen off the hilt of Will's handgun, and only when he's finally convinced himself to let go entirely does he grind out a low, controlled: ]
