[Sometimes all you want to do is be out in public with girls that call you their friend-- especially when, like Maya, you've never gotten the chance to do so your whole life. Maya values the time she gets to spend with Ann, especially one-on-one, going out to do things that people do when they're not a part of a ghost cult.

All this is why Maya gets especially bummed when they're out together, doing something that honestly Maya's probably doing for the first or second time, only for garbage trash boys always to show up and bother Ann. From time to time Maya finds herself a target, too, but her own obliviousness (or else, willingness to ignore things) isn't as appealing as Ann's, well, everything.

Maya gets it, of course. She has no fear talking about how pretty and cool and smart Ann is, and totally understands why people would want her attention. BUT IT'S RUDE.

This time hasn't been so bad, luckily. They've made it to the mall and stopped in at the food court for lunch, and even had the opportunity to order food from one place and ice cream floats from another, which they've been drinking while waiting on the food order.]

In retrospect, maybe this hadn't been the best choice but when he'd suggested it, it had been because he was tired of ducking the Jin clan members who kept suggesting female cultivators for him to consider for marriage. Something he was extremely not interested in at this point in his life and asking Sizhui to help him evade the whole situation had been an impulsive act on his part.

He definitely hadn't thought it through and right now he was quietly cursing himself for it, gaze following Sizhui as he moved to take a seat at the table for the discussion conference. It was the first to be held at Jinlintai in years and he was determined to make sure things ran smoothly.

Except he'd definitely made a mistake here and after the day's meetings ended, he slipped out of the audience hall to get some air and clear his head.
