Rufus has never been one to frequent bars nor, as a general rule, poor areas of town. But he supposes there's an exception for everything. He also never would have expected to develop such a close relationship with someone who had once very much considered him an enemy, but here they are.

He's made his way to the 7th Heaven, keeping a low profile along the way. Things aren't what they used to be, but that doesn't mean there aren't still people inclined to beat the living daylights out of him were he to be recognised as the former President of the Shinra Electric Power Company. He's always a bit relieved when he makes it to the relative safety of the bar itself.

7th Heaven isn't just a bar though and one of the safest places for him, at least when he stops by. Mostly because Tifa tends to close the place down to anyone not in her immediate social circle. It's simpler that way given the fact people do remember him. Still, she slides a drink across the bar as he settles on one of the stools.

"Been a while, hasn't it?" It's quiet, Tifa leaning on the bar.

He appreciates it. More than he's ever directly made known to her, probably, and tonight is going to be no exception.

"I've been busy," he tells her as he wraps a hand around the glass that's appeared in front of him. He's far from being in the spotlight, these days, but he generally finds himself with no less work. "Overseeing a project in Junon."

"Top secret type project or something you can talk about?" She knows about his ties to the WRO and while it had taken some time to adjust to the fact he was indeed trying to help more than revive the past, she'd come around.

Even come to appreciate his company at least enough to keep him from dealing with the kind of trouble he'd bring if he mixed with her regulars. "When was the last time you ate?"

"Some of both, I think," he says, and leaves it at that for now. He might tell her more later, but at the moment, he takes a sip of the drink, pleased and unsurprised to note that it's the type of whiskey he particularly likes.

Setting the glass back down, he replies, "I could use a meal."

Basically the answer she expected and when he finishes his drink she sets it in the sink to wash before moving to open the door that let him behind the bar.

"Come on then, There's plenty of leftovers upstairs." And she's alone this week anyway, the kids off with Barret on an adventure of some sort. Tifa doesn't look back as she heads up the stairs to the small kitchen to start reheating some stir fry and rice for him.

He follows her, settling into a seat upstairs, once he gets there, and watching her fuss over the food. He wonders just how many times at this point he's witnessed a scene just like this.

"You really do enjoy taking care of people, don't you?"

"It's kind of what I do." And she does enjoy it, knowing it's something good she can do for the people around her. Not that it's the only thing she does, but it's definitely one of the more important things.

She sets a bowl of stew over rice in front of him before pouring him a drink to go with it. The bottle was a gift, an expensive brand she doesn't carry in the bar, but it's his favorite from a certain source so...

"Eat up. There's plenty more if you want seconds."
