But in the Southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed, so the December holiday period sits over the hottest months of the year. For those reasons, the traditions somewhere like Australia are a little different. Light, summery food, cold drinks, splashing at the beach and watching the Boxing Day test match — or playing some cricket of your own.
