At first sight
![]() ❥ Unlikely Love at First Sight Meme ♡ Fairy tales just don't exist in real life, do they? You consider yourself a realist, or even if you don't consider much, you're not sentimental. Bonds between people are grown through years of mutual experience, if that. Love is...difficult to describe, but if you do believe it exists, you think it's something that's worked at every day. Love at first sight? Now that's just ridiculous. There may be a rush of hormones, but you can't actually feel that strongly and that intensely over a person you've just met, especially when it's you. Especially when that someone is someone you'd never expect to fall for. Well, the concept of "falling" in love is silly, anyway. If anything, it's more like a slow, leisurely saunter downwards - if such affections are even on your radar at all. That's how it truly is; people who fall in love with first sight are setting themselves up for failure and a short-lived relationship once the infatuation fades. You would never... ...you just fell in love with someone at first sight, didn't you? ღ This meme is for those players whose characters aren't exactly suited for a played-straight love at first sight meme. Here, it's all very odd and unexpected and there will probably be reluctance. Or really, it's just for anyone. |

[As cities went, Lora was quite enjoying San Francisco. Most importantly, it was on the water, but far more temperate than Florida had been -- way less humidity and fewer mosquitoes. It was quickly becoming one of her favorite places she'd ever put down in. With job and housing sorted, she was set on learning her new home.
She'd taken to wandering on her weekends, finding the places here and there that made it unique. In some side street she'd found an art gallery in one of their long, narrow buildings. As long-lived as she was, art was one of the things she had never really properly grasped, but she liked to look.
The gallery wasn't crowded in the least, though there were a few people milling about. She was seated on a bench, going between reading the brochure about the current exhibit and looking at the canvases on the walls that surrounded her, making only the barest note when people came and went -- save for the last one, a man with long dark hair, longer than hers, using a chair, and freckles that she could not believe. She wouldn't have said she was staring, precisely, but it was a long enough look that she blushed when they made eye contact. Oops, caught.]

[ So far, the week hadn't been a good one for a variety of reasons, most of which were so familiar and routine that Leo had almost considered pencilling them into his calendar. Today hadn't been much better, but he'd made it a point to leave the house, even if just for an hour or so - some might call this willpower. He would have pointedly called it spite. It was a beautiful day out, the full moon had come and gone, and he needed the fresh air; if he paid for it later, he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.
By the time he'd reached the gallery, he was glad for how quiet it was. He could move with greater ease from piece to piece, he didn't need to wait for people to move along so that he could see the artwork in the first place. The contents of the gallery aside, the place was cool and spacious; it was peaceful, calming.
Admittedly, he didn't notice the woman sitting on the bench at first as he entered the space, though that changed when he stopped in front of one of the canvases only a couple of yards away. He had a fairly good sense for when people were staring at him - it was never as discreet as they thought they were being - and how he was feeling decided how he responded to it, if at all.
Usually, people looked away as soon as he turned their way - but this young lady didn't.
And really, for once he was glad for it. She was beautiful, and after a very long couple of seconds, she wasn't the only one whose cheeks were growing warmer.
So, after another beat, he risked a smile, and a nod of acknowledgement. If she was only looking for the sake of it, fine. But if not..? Well. He wasn't opposed to conversation. ]

That was really not an impression she was looking to make. Or, at least not for negative reasons that would lead him to believe she was raised without manners.]
Hello.
[Well, that hadn't gone so badly. Still, conversations needed more, and she grasped for something and found:]
Nice afternoon, isn't it?
[Eh. Could have gone worse.]

[ She was sitting close enough for him to understand what she said, thankfully - while he was used to it, there was nothing more awkward than someone speaking to him and him needing to ask (sometimes more than once) for them to repeat themselves. ]
It certainly is. Makes a change from the last couple of days; [ He shrugged a little. ] I don't mind the rain, but after almost a week of it, it's a little tedious.
[ After a moment or two, he gestured to the space around them.</small. ] Do you come here often..?

[Rain water isn't the same as a water deep enough to take a swim in, but it is water. So she doesn't mind rain, but it did get rather repetitive so she nods her agreement on that count.]
Ah... [She laughs, a little nervously.] No, this is my first time. I don't think I've lived here long enough to go anywhere often.

But he had always assumed those kind of things would never happen to him. Falling in love so easily and finding love. No, it really wasn't something that would happen to him.
San Francisco is a very different city. It doesn't move as quickly as New York does and the hills make for a different scenery completely. The people in San Francisco are far kinder than those of New York.
They still do love their music though.
The little cafe he plays at is a small thing that probably can't even fit 25 people in it. The tables are small and crowded together, but there's a nice, homey feeling to the place. The coffee is good and their tea isn't so bad either. It's a nice little side gig to keep his itch scratched with not grandiose concertos coming up. He likes the piano that they have shoved in the back corner. It's an old thing that he plays on and the patrons are happy to listen to whatever he feels like playing.
They're oblivious to the reality that they're hearing him play for the price of a cup of coffee when the elite drop quite a bit of money to hear him in a grand auditorium. Cain enjoys the anonymity though.
It's a chilly day as he steps out of the cafe for a smoke break. A bit dreary, but isn't San Francisco usually like that? He shakes out a cigarette and lights it before he looks around the street to people watch. The other upside to San Francisco was that there were far less people going about their day. While thoughts thrum through his mind, it isn't as bad as it could be. He can mostly smoke his cigarette in relative peace as he watched people go about their business; eyes lingering here and there on people that catch his eye a tad longer than others.
It was just going to be a normal day, he thinks.]
