The Highly Inappropriate Sexual Tension Meme

Touches. Glances. Sides brushing, so close to each other. The moment is, most likely, quite, subdued, and calm. Or it could be loud and full of life, right in the middle of a vivacious party. Yet, no matter the case, your blood is pumping - no, nearly boiling with the passion bubbling between you and your companion. Unfortunately, this sexual tension is completely and absolutely out of line. Whether it be the place, the time, your relationship with the person (be that literal relation or power difference, age difference, experience difference, and so on), your own lack of knowledge, or personal convictions, you should not act on any building desires. But here's the thing about tension: it builds. It builds, and it builds, until... Well, even subtlety can come to an inappropriate head. HOW TO PLAY This meme isn't for smut, though smut is allowed. What it is for is the delicious, anticipatory build up and the dances people can do to deny attraction. Foreplay, especially creative foreplay, is encouraged. Comment with your character, canon, and preferences in the subject. In the comment body, be sure to mention if there are any squicks you have, scenarios you don't/do want to play out, and if you're okay with AUs or handwaved CR. Reply to others.

[ Growing up, Shouto had always been kept separate from his siblings, especially after Mom... Especially after. He didn't get to play with them or spend time with them, and when he was hurting after a long, painful day of training, he would wrap himself in a blanket and try to steady his breathing as he pressed himself into a corner of his bedroom.

Now is nothing like then. Nothing at all. While the Todoroki siblings don't spend a lot of time together, there's much more of an effort made to find some semblance of family. Dinners, mostly, where Fuyumi tried her best to get them all under the same roof to enjoy her cooking. And then sometimes, there are days like today, when it's just Natsuo and Shouto, trying to find a birthday gift for their hard-working sister.

They'd gotten lunch, and then had been distracted by a movie, and are now walking through the mall, shoulders occasionally bumping together as they looked into stores. It's--remarkably normal, if not so much for brothers. For...a date. Maybe. ]

[Through no fault of his own, Shouto has become a major source of self-inflicted stress for Natsuo since the family reunited - and even more so since Enji insisted on sticking his ugly face back into the mix. Natsuo idealized his own big brother so thoroughly that Touya's memory has become canonized to him, making the mantle weigh heavy every time he tries to don it for Shouto's sake: how can he make someone who's constantly in levels of danger he can't even comprehend feel safe, protected, guarded from every angle?

And how can he guard Shouto from their own father if Enji turns on them again?

Those enormous fears, combined with his disinclination to dive into the trauma of their shared but separate pasts within the family, are what keep Natsuo and Shouto's outings as light and full of distraction as dates. He wants to build pleasant but benign memories before trying for anything more meaningful, because if he can't offer Shouto the sort of security and comfort a big brother should, he can at least share the peace of his comparatively banal life. Some normality amid the chaos.

There's only one problem with his methodology. Or maybe with them, or with him alone - he hasn't tested the feeling he sometimes gets, the unexpected energy that seems to flow between them, to see if it really is mutual. Doing so would be the absolute best way to sabotage their delicate relationship beyond all hope of repair. The problem just hovers there, unspoken, occasionally making him startle at nothing or break out in a sweat that has nothing to do with the ambient temperature.]

Oh hey, that's really pretty, huh? I think she'd love it. [He leans down and in to peer more closely into the glass display case, which also brings him considerably closer to Shouto - something that shouldn't stand out to him, so he tells himself he hasn't even noticed.] If you could get a pendant that looked like a flame and put them both on the same chain... I don't know if it'd look any good, but that'd be like having you with her all the time, y'know?

[ When he tilts his head to look up, Shouto can see the way Natsuo's grey eyes catch the light. It's pretty--and he nearly says so aloud before stopping himself. He swallows instead, looking quickly back into the shop window even as he instinctively sways in a little closer. Natsuo always smells like the brisk, clean air after a snowfall. ]

That's...I don't know if she'd want that.

[ It seems selfish to give her something deliberately meant to remind her of him. ]

Wouldn't it be better to give her something... [ He trails off, uncertain. ] For her?
