"Then where can we go?" Malcolm asked.

He'd followed a trail of clues over the border and ended up in Toronto, looking up an old friend.

It wasn’t that he was unhappy to see Malcolm, he owed the other man and his team a lot for their help on his cross-border investigation. It was actually good to see a friendly face, especially one he hadn’t expected to see again for quite some time. What he was feeling was concerned over the situation that brought the other man to Toronto.

Scratching the side of his face in agitation, he considered their options. “Mm... Well... That depends on what they already know about you and the matter you’re here to look in to.”

"Well, I haven't told anyone I was coming. Including at home. That's a sure fire way to get stopped by Gil." A beat. "Or my mother." He looked at Watts. "At any rate, that's good, right?"

Well, given what he knew of Gil since getting to know the man, as well as having learned of Malcolm’s mother’s reputation for being very... vocal when it came to her children, Watts supposed that had been a smart choice. Not that he was sure it would have been an unfounded concern on either of their parts at this point.

“Yes, that’s something, I suppose.” Something good and bad. At least when he left the country on an investigation people had known where he disappeared to. Sure, some hadn’t really been concerned about it, but that was beside the point. “Why don’t you tell me more about your case, and I can uh- see about finding some more trust worthy contacts to make use of. I have connections, and I know people at my station who can’t be bought.”

"Okay. Well, he's clearly a high ranking official of some capacity. He feels like he's untouchable. Above the law. I'm not sure of his name, but this is definitely where his plane was headed," Malcolm told him as they walked.

“Ah, people like that are an unfortunate dime a dozen in our world today, but if we do a little digging we should be able to identify him.” It did help where he was flying in, it meant they could weed out local figures and focus on those visiting the country. The question was, what was he there for and how deep did this run. If their suspect was a frequent visitor, there was no telling who they had in their pocket already.

“I’ll make some calls, see if we can’t work out who is flying in that matches your profile.” He gestures ahead of them, with a quick glance at the passers-by. “Meanwhile, do you already have a place to stay lined up? I would recommend somewhere understated in a situation like this. Don’t want to be traced should the suspect catch wind of your presence and your intentions.”

"Understated?" Malcolm asked. "Like where?"

Look at his suits. Understated?? He was going to need help with that.
