2. Falling: You learn to love them, even if you never have before.
3. From Afar: You're not too close to them - they may not know you at all - but you still admire them. Whether "afar" means something like a different school, a different team, or a different world or walk of life is up to you.

[Tsukishima should definitely feel like more of a loser after hanging out with not just one kid that's still in middle school, but an entire group of middle schoolers who specifically identify themselves as losers. But he always did prefer the bullied to the bullies when they were this type of loser - nothing to prove, no interest in pleasing those who terrorize them, just trying to survive among the blowhards and the showoffs.

So he didn't sidestep away from Richie when his friends showed up, just observed them with distant amusement until they all split off to return home. Most of them were uneasy in the presence of an older boy, so Tsukishima definitely picked up the most unspoken signals from the one who was already used to him - and boy, did Richie ever scream one thing at the top of his nonverbal lungs. He'd probably prefer Tsukishima keep it quiet but this time Tsukki's not even out to make his life a nightmare over it.
