It hadn't even been obvious to her.

She had suffered from fatigue here and there for awhile, but it had never been so frequent. Traveling for long periods of time had never took such a toll on her before. Vincent had been insistent on stopping if needed for her to catch her breath. No need to push herself right? Well, she could only do so much of that and ended up collapsing because of it. Thus it had Vincent taking her off to a clinic in a nearby town. What she heard was nothing short of a surprise.

I'm happy to inform you that you're pregnant.

Pregnant? PREGNANT? How??? I mean, she knows 'how', but she just hadn't expected THAT to be the reason along with how far along she was. Some extra weight, but training always made her keep it off plus a bigger appetite than usual. There was SO much running through her mind. What was she gonna tell her father for starters and how that was going to be viewed by others. Then Vincent....

"No I'm fine..." Biggest lie ever told. Maybe she should just wait for a better time to tell him?

Probably when this kid out of you, Yuffie? Don't be stupid...

His voice sounded distant upon being in a Inn so she could just rest, but she's been sitting on the bed quiet for the most part with a few brief nods of her head as if she heard him. Hearing him talk to her and she hadn't realized when she blurted it out so loudly to him I'M PREGNANT! So much for waiting. There was a heavy silent pause as she felt the color in her face. But you know, in case he didn't hear it the first time she'd repeat it again only a little softer.

"...yeah, I'm pregnant."

[ Vincent's heart barely beat to begin with. (A side effect of the horrors he had endured.) However, he thought it might have stopped completely as she spoke. ]

Are you- [His mouth was dry. His face had gone a shade paler if it had been possible. A father? Him? He barely deserved to be alive. ] Are you certain?

[It didn't really feel any better having that off her chest by much. This baby was still here and she didn't know where to begin with it.]

Less the doctor was lyin' to me, had went since I thought I had some lingerin' motion sickness and the tranquilizers weren't really helpin'. [Oh, how she wish the doctor was lying to her, but it all made sense with the changes in her body.]

Said I'm about two months...

[Vincent stood, his shoes snapping on the wood floors loudly. He had not thought he was capable of conceiving,assuming his biology did not allow for it. If he had known he would have been more careful. He would have- ]

[Though he longed to flee, he stood still. Running away from this was impossible. ]

[Well, that would make the both of them really. Yeah, she would readily admit that they were pretty reckless and there hadn't been any show of problems before. ~~Maybe some 'slight' blame on her side, since she tended to initiate.~~

There was a pause of silence as she wasn't sure how to answer. Biting back at the tip of her tongue wanting to snap before a soft grunt was given.]

I....don't really know. What am I suppose to do?

[For once she's at a loss on what she should do well, if 'anything' for that matter. Her country didn't deal with any unsavory practices when a woman was with child. Unforgivable in their culture. More so than a unscheduled heir down the line.]

Whatever you choose. It is up to you. [He swallowed hard. Wutai culture was something he knew a little about. It was frowned upon to terminate a pregnancy for anyone,let alone their royal line. If that was what she chose, he'd support her and not breathe a single word. The look on her face told him that that was not an option for Yuffie.]

I suppose you intend to... [He paused, searching for the right words.] follow through. What do you need from..from me? [They could get a safe place for her until the child was born, then figure it out from there.]

[Deeply frowned upon more so than just a baby out of wedlock. Not something she could ever forgive herself in doing even if she did consider it an option. Hell, that meant even less traveling for her as time went on. She already got hit with waves of nausea that rivaled her motion sickness.

Ugh, she could put it off with her dad for sure, but...Reeve was going to have questions to a leave of absence.]

Vincent..you're gonna have to give me SOME kinda input here. I know how I'm feeling about it, but...how do you even feel about it?
[Because he pretty much kept his usual default of emotions to pretty neutral.]

I'm sorry. [His mask had slipped a few times with Yuffie. In bed she had seen his facade crack, him absolutely blow away that she would let him touch her. In quiet moments, when it was just the two of them there was an intimacy in just talking plainly. No guilt. No past hanging over Vincent's neck like a guillotine.]

[He was silent, brows furrowed deeply. How did he feel? Nervous? Happy? Sick? Yes. There was one thing he knew.] I love you. [The words were unpracticed, having never been verbalized.] I want to ..help..you. [I want to be this child's father.]

[It was a moment where one didn't seem to have anything else to hide within a intimate exchange while being completely honesty. Guard down with the chance of one being left vulnerable to touches and feelings. She wasn't really one to mince words when she expressed and showed her interest in him.

He probably questioned the why of it and Vincent always seemed to think of himself far from human when he was anything but to her and she just wanted to express that to him. The words...well, never been mentioned and you know she's been fine with him not verbally telling her thinking that was enough, but just hearing it, sounding so foreign, really felt the her chest tighten. There was a moment of relief with facial features relaxing before hand lifted up to reach towards his face to let her finger cradle against his cheek.]

Vincent I love you too and long as you're here with me you're more than helpin' me.

I will stay. [ Of course. He leaned into her touch, covering her hand with one of his own.] I don't think I'll be welcome in Wutai for a while though... [Ah yes. There is is. That small smile that Vincent only reserved for Yuffie. He could only imagine the Hell that Yuffie's father would want to rain down upon him once he found out.]

Should we-[The smile was gone, Vincent turning deathly serious once again.] get married? [It was not that simple. Anything he could do to make this process easier he would. It was not that he did not want to be with Yuffie. It was quite the opposite.

However he was functionally immortal. Seeing her grow old and die while he stayed the same had been a nightmare he had been nurturing since he had realized how much he treasured her. Adding a child to that list...well he winced at the thought]

H~a, I'm pretty sure I'll be up in that category as well. [Not like her and her father hadn't gone into dramatics, while there's been instances claiming 'I have no daughter!' Etc, etc thought they always got over it eventually, but...she's not so sure about this time around. Of course, Godo was sure to have something to say about his daughter no with child leaving Wutai. Vincent was pretty much part of the package deal as well as the kid now if he wanted her to stay.

There was a blink of confusion at the shift of tone to the question before a light laugh came. If only because it unintentionally flustered her at how direct it was, but that shouldn't be a surprise with Vincent.]

Ha..c'mon Valentine you can ask me better than that, right?

That's a guarantee for me to be buggin' you for the rest of your life. Not that I have a problem with it.
[It hadn't been a thought for anything 'offical' much like everything else, but it sounded more than nice to be able to live out a life with someone she loves dearly.]

This is not the proposal. [Vincent grimaced. Romance. Damn it. That was something he had never excelled at. The Turks had taught him how to break a man's arm or how long one could go without needing rest. Romance was something foreign. Yuffie deserved something sweet though. A pretty ring at least.

He groaned inwardly. He'd probably have to ask Cid for advice.] Are there any customs you want to keep from your home? [Would he have to ask for her father's blessing?] Or would you want to elope? [The smile was back, not quite reaching his eyes this time. Though it is slight, his hand shook as he gripped her's. She deserved better than him. She deserved someone to grow old with.]

[Snorts.] Oh, good though ti tcould use a little work and I'm just teasin'. I know it's not.

[It was something to think about. What does one give a literal princess in show of affection? Not that she was a traditional sort of royalty with a lineage. She loved her country, but most old traditions could be kinda stuffy.]

Run off with you? That actually sounds pretty romantic of you, but couldn't hurt to see what my old man says either first. Only thing I'd probably want is to wear something of my mother's is all annnd...seein' you in something fancy would be a nice plus.
[Very simple. She didn't want much long as Vincent wanted her everything was good in her book. The other delicate hand came to cover over his where fingers gently squeezed at his hands. A soft hum came as a soft smile came.]

We don't have to overthink things , yeah?

[He froze for just a moment, watching her closely. Overthinking was something he was very good at. Living in the past was easy for him. But Yuffie was right there in the present.. With him.] Right.

[Perhaps this would be the year he'd finally get his first grey hair. The fact he could conceive at all made his heart stir hopefully.

He did not say anything more, instead choosing to take a seat next to Yuffie on the bed and open his arms to invite her in. ]
