THE POCKY GAME MEME

It's that time again!! For supernatural reasons that mere mortals could not comprehend, you and someone else are compelled to play this strange game of chicken, where there can only be one victor. You can be trapped, or just doing it as a friendly yet weird gesture! So don't be shy, this might even be the day you get your first kiss, you loser!

RULES: Post with your character and their name/canon on the subject, mention if the thread is open for all or closed to someone in particular, and if you have any preferences as needed-- but most importantly: have fun!

[ As soon as he opens his mouth to snap out a swift (and likely impulsive) rebuttal, Sasuke's resigned voice gives way and slows him down some. It forces him to stop and think about his reply a minute more, but it doesn't render him completely speechless either once he's finished, that is. ]

But what if I don't want to wait until you change back? What if I still want to play and give this another chance?

[ He doesn't ever want to question the possibility if Sasuke would ever change back, considering how frequently this happens and without warning at that. But should that be a strong possibility, they'll handle that bridge when they get to it. ]

I came so close this time, and I know I can do it, I know I can.

I know you noticed it too, I saw it in your face -- that sparkle in your eye. I've done more today than I have these past few months, and that reason alone is why you have to let me try again. I can't make the momentum drop or stop here.

I need you to believe in me, Sasuke.

[ Sasuke sighs and sits down. ]

... All right. One more try, but I'm still going home either way. I meant it when I said I didn't want to deal with the attention and questions from others.

[ Please don't get my hopes up only to dash them again. It reminds me of worse times, and it's making it harder to trust you fully with my heart... ]

[ OH GOOD GOD, that ball of tension that caused his shoulders to scrunch up and bunch in his chest finally deflates in a silent reprieve when Sasuke concedes. Whether if it was his heartfelt plea or Sasuke giving into his tender heartstrings for his awkward man-child of a boyfriend, Yukimura didn't want to spend too much time reflecting on it. Sasuke was giving him another opportunity to make up for his initial blunder and by the gods, he was going to make it right this time. ]

Okay.

[ When Sasuke takes a seat, Yukimura follows suit and reaches over to pop another stick in his mouth before leaning in. Already, he's had an alternative idea on how to approach this but doing so too early would make Sasuke too fickle and that is absolutely not what he needs right now, right when he got him on board to give him another chance. ]

[ Without another word, Sasuke leans in and takes the other end of the Pocky stick into his mouth. His patience on the matter is running as thin as a Pocky stick and just as fragile. Yukimura will not get another chance after this one.

These are growing pains of having more respect for oneself and character development... and coming to terms that maybe he should build up defenses around his heart again. ]

[ It's a very precarious thing, how high the stakes are in this deceptively “friendly” challenge. In any case, it is perfect fodder and steadfast motivation to ensure Yukimura does not squander this for a second time and takes the lead by taking an overconfident inch in his mouth. ]

[ Sasuke lacks the spirit of their first game. He simply takes a small nibble. No teasing. No eye contact. He's just going through the motions. ]

[ Yukimura sees the lack of spirit and eye contact, and while it's mildly disheartening, this Yukimura must persevere. He takes another inch going forward and leans his shoulders in slightly. ]

[ All the competitive spirit and fun was earlier. Sasuke's mind is also elsewhere. He's trying to guess when Yukimura will stop and lamenting how a first kiss from that playful game would have been so memorable.

This one--if there is even a kiss at the end of this--is because Yukimura has to something to prove... he really just wants to go home. ]

[ Oh, he definitely has something to prove now. But it's for something beyond the concept of this game and is more personally inclined now that he's made aware of certain things.

In any case, another one bites the dust stick as the game draws near to its conclusion. ]

[ Another bite and Sasuke closes his eyes. The last move is Yukimura's.

Incoming disappointment in 3... 2... 1... ]

[ It is and watch him nail this challenge the way he should have a long time ago – or not. That's fine; he's not going to let Sasuke's closed eyes deter him from gradually taking the last bite and leaning in before his lips made full contact.



Huh... this part isn't nearly as awkward as the journey was, but now that he's here, he's more reluctant to pull away. ]

[ ... 0? Huh? Did Yukimura actually--? Sasuke cracks an eye open to confirm that, yes, their lips are touching. It's technically a kiss. However, he doesn't try for much else; he closes that eye again and waits for Yukimura to either pull away or do more with the kiss.

This is a lot more progress than Yukimura has ever done, but he's too afraid to do anything in case he breaks this spell. Sasuke won't hope. ]

[ The fact Sasuke has his eyes closed does help a lot, and not objectively in a way that would embolden Sasuke's disenchanted thinking. It makes the kiss less awkward and just a smidge bit more intimate as all their other ones so it's that much more easier to put him at ease and move his hands forward.

Previously curled atop his knees, his hands find their way up to Sasuke's face and pull him closer, closing the gap between them before deepening the kiss by a margin with a coy nibble to his bottom lip. ]
