Some heart, some comfort

hurt/comfort smut; meme Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap. There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself.

to bring you out of the darkness; The injury may not be a temporary physical or mental one, however. Some characters suffer more deeply, even if they don't know it. Darkness covers their hearts, they're withdrawn, insecure, angry, or lonely. They need someone to reach out to them and show them unconditional love. This post can provide that, too. Whether it be the cliche and shameless "changed by your love" trope or something more subtle like getting someone to open up, the characters here can offer that and more. Training was mostly just that. Training. It was rough and it was tiring and sometimes brutual, but it was still safe compared to the danger of an actual fight.

When you were using actual weapons though, sometimes accidents happened. Gladio had been working with Noct, both of them practicing against a greater number of enemies. The Glaive trainees working against them were all talented and disciplined, but no one was perfect. A stray bullet had been heading straight for Noct, who was working with a fire spell the trainees were shielded against.

Noctis wasn't that used to the spells yet and he'd missed the bullet, but Gladio caught it. There just hadn't been time to do it well. It bounced off his shield, but he went right into the path of the spell, and then when Noct tried to divert it, a knife throw had headed into Gladio's calf instead of bouncing off Noct's sword.

When the chaos settled, Gladio had a deeply sliced calf, and burns licking their way up his torso. It was training policy to be given enough curative to heal well and without major scarring, but not enough for it not to hurt, so you learned from it.

Which was how Gladio ended up laid up with a leg he couldn't get around well yet on, a stack of books, and a deeply resentful expression. Noct had come and gone, sullenly antagonistic, which was probably his way of being sorry but not knowing how to say it, and Prompto had sent a half dozen texts already. Gladio hadn't texted Iggy. He'd been planning to wait until Ignis was off duty for the day so he wouldn't have time to worry. Prom's last message kind of ruined that though, since he said he'd told Ignis.

Gladio groaned and quickly texted Iggy. I'm fine, just a couple days rest.

He heard the text message chime of the message being received a second before he saw Ignis' shadow in the doorway. "I was going to tell you when you were done for the day," Gladio said. "Didn't want you worrying."
