Dead Lover — No wonder they have unfinished business with you. You were theirs in life, and they're not about to let you go. Tethered to You — In life, you didn't know each other, but now their ghost is connected to you, and you to them. The Sight — You're the only one who can see them, the only one in the world to them, now. Haunted Home — There's something wrong with your house. Can you reclaim it? Do you want to get rid of your companion? Peace to the Vengeful — All you wanted to do was do a kind deed and help them achieve peace, not become eternally grateful. Remember — Both of you are bound and determined to find out who you were as a living mortal. The knowledge might tear you apart. Different Time, Different Place — This ghost is of a person who's a bit...antiquated compared to you. Careful, they may want to court you. It certainly makes things awkward when they see how you dress. Jealousy — Lights burst, glass cracks, and the whole place goes cold when someone with a pulse smiles at you. Protection — You'll risk your afterlife for the one you love. Confession — If you can communicate vocally, confessions are easy. If you can't talk, that's a whole other kettle of fish. The Challenge of Intimacy — Ghost makes it look so easy. You want to reach out and touch them, but you can't always do that. Manifestation — Your emotions have temporarily given you a physical form. Keeping You Here — The living's affection keeps the dead in the mortal coil. Decay — The longer they stay with you, the more of a violent wraith, disconnected from their past, they become. Passing — You have to let them go, even if they don't want to. Just Like Heaven — You'll work together to find a way to bring you back to life. ANYTHING ELSE?

[ Hashirama as the dead! He's a boisterous, cheerful, easily excited-to-the-point-of-annoying-maybe kinda dude, but he also has plant-related powers. Maybe you hear laughter, sometimes, when you watch TV. Maybe your flowers have been growing so much better in this house than the last one, and you can't figure out why. Maybe you actually see him, sometimes, seated at the windowsill and looking longingly outside.

Either way, congratulations on the haunted house? Hashirama's gonna do his best to be helpful, but it seems he can only move anything when he feels something particularly strongly.

Oh, he's also from the tail end of the Sengoku period. Which is to say he died in the 1600's. ]

i'm interested in 'the sight', 'remember', 'protection', 'confession' but especially 'the challenge of intimacy'. i also really like the idea of ghost possession as well, especially re: challenge of intimacy. i can play around with the other prompts as well if you'd like, but those are the ones that i'm interested in the most.

as for atsushi himself - he's from the bungo stray dogs side novel, BEAST, which is a canon AU where he winds up as a port mafia member instead of an armed detective agency member. he's a little on the soft spoken side since a lot of his characteristics as atsushi nakajima have been severely toned down thanks to dazai crafting him into the perfect assassin. as a heads up: his background does contain cw: suicide/child abuse/murder but feel free to let me know if you want to avoid those topics and i won't have him mention them at all. )

[ death wasn't supposed to be easy, or without fear or pain, but he at least expected it to be quiet. to pass on, to be reborn again in another life in another time. that when he was put into the ground nothing would disturb him.

and yet, death has been nothing but one thing after another. nie mingjue couldn't even die easily, his mind succumbing to poisonous douse after poisonous douse doled out by an utterly two faced man, until it was too much, until his mind snapped and his body was destroyed along with it. and instead of being placed into the tomb like he should've been he was torn asunder, thrown across the countryside, fighting and raging without an end.

his only solace was the sound of a single song.

after everything transpired at the temple, after he finally got the one revenge that brought him peace, he thought he could move on. but he didn't. nie mingjue stares at the faded outlines of his hands and realizes he went from corpse to ghost and scowls. there is no need for this. he can move on now, he wants to move on now. this world of peace doesn't need him lingering in it.

nie mingjue finds the one person who could fix this, the one person left he could trust with to do what needs to be done. lan xichen could surely send him onto the next life.

and yet, death is not done with him yet.

he passes through the cloud recesses with ease, passing through familiar paths, but it takes him longer to find lan xichen than expected. he almost seems hidden away in a room he doesn't know, and it doesn't make sense as to why he'd be so far out of the way until nie mingjue sees him. he looks tired, distant, more than he ever did when nie mingjue was alive, and it makes him ache. lan xichen is better with his soft smile, like the smell of the flowers and grass after a summer storm.

his heart wavers then. he can't ask lan xichen to help him pass if it's like this, can he? he has to help him. has to do something for the man who meant so much to him he can barely think of the words to give it shape.

nie mingjue knows in this form, he looks terrible. he's a shadow of his old self, but at least in the light of the moon and the darkness of the night sky he at least has some shape to himself. but he cannot stop himself from calling out, to at least try to reach him. ]

Xichen?

[ he wonders though, if lan xichen can hear him and his new breathy, strange voice. he wonders if he'd want to, or if nie mingjue is only going to cause him more pain. ]
