it's time to tell the truth.

TRUTH MEME
Sometimes, you have to tell the truth. No, I mean, you have to. Maybe it's magic, or a promise, or nanobots; who knows. But you have to tell the truth, and everyone knows it. Of course, do half-tuths count? What about lying by omission? That's up to you, and how far you want this curse, this ailment, to go. The only thing that can't be escaped is the truth, whatever form that truth takes.
What happens next?
You decide.
- Post your character to the meme.
- They have to tell the truth when they're asked questions.
- What others ask is up to them. Nothing is off limits.
- Your character has to answer... eventually.
- Tag around and ask other characters questions!

Why is the houseplant by your window armed?

[...OH, shit, yeah. ]
Oh...I,uh...I keep my guns hidden around my apartment. Not having them all locked in one place where I might not be able to get to them quickly puts me at ease, helps me feel safe.
[ At least he hadn't found the others yet. ]

I’m not sure that having them hidden in easy access places is considered proper weapon safety...?
[What does he know? He barely knows how to hold a gun to hand it over properly.]
I don’t quite understand...
Do you end up with dangerous company that requires the use of a firearm at home often?
no subject
[ Which doesn't really disprove his point, but you know. ]
...No. I need one of them for my job, the others are just...for peace of mind.

[And he has more questions now, the train has left the station and its heading for a mountain.]
If you don’t have dangerous company popping by unannounced, I fail to see why you need more than the one for work hidden around for ‘peace of mind?’

[ There's hesitation before she answers his next question, but as fleeting as it is, it's practically palpable. ]
...I like to be prepared. I live by myself, door locks can only do so much. [ It's not...the entire truth, or more specifically not quite the one he's really digging for, but it isn't a lie either. ]
This is starting to feel like I've been brought in for questioning.

[The pause that followed is awkwardly long, a small look of alarm crossing his face as he realized that perhaps he’d been pushing her a little too hard out of curiosity. It sometimes happened, open mouth insert foot.]
Oh. Uh-no...? I don’t mean to sound like I’m on duty. You’re not a suspect or anything- I just, well... I’ve been curious, and a little concerned I suppose.
And I’ve uh, never known anyone to keep guns in potted plants. So...?
no subject
No, don't worry- I know. And I know it's odd, I just figure that'd be the last place someone would look if they managed to break in.
[ After a beat; ]
...You really don't need to worry about me, you know. I'm okay.

Well, I can’t say you’re wrong to come up with it for a hiding place. I certainly hadn’t expected to see it there when I was looking at it. I considered for a moment that one of those bad horror films had become a reality and the plants were rising up.
[Looking at the plant? More like picking at the leaves that looked a little less healthy as he was prone to do in a hunt to find something to play with. It was the same thing, really.
The smile dropped a fraction at her next comment. She had told him that before, and yet he couldn’t quite let his concerns go. He knew she clearly was capable of taking care of herself, but he still had his reasons.]
I know, you have made me aware of that before.
I suppose you aren’t the only one with a proclivity towards considering the worst situation that could come to pass and wanting to be prepared for it.
[It was just that his methods involved digging for more information to figure out the best way to come at a possible problem, opposed to hiding guns everywhere.]

[ Visibly more relaxed, she shrugged, though not too seriously. She even smiles a second later. ]
Yeah, I know I have, but until you stop, I'll just assume you need reminding.
no subject
[Hopefully she wouldn’t grow tired of having to do so, chances were that he wouldn’t stop worrying about everyone else any time soon. ]
Well I appreciate that, though I’m not sure this is a habit you can just expect to be broken.

[Rubbing his chin thoughtfully, he shrugged a little and decided that he was happy to keep worrying about a friend instead of breaking the habit. As much as he wanted to make said friend happy by not being worried, it was too unlikely at this point.]
But I have to agree, we both have fairly busy lives to be spending what free time we have on trying to break a habit that may be unbreakable.
