You’ve got your TFLN, you’ve got your sexting, now here’s the meme for all those gen texts, phone calls, voicemails, pictures of your cats, and whatever else your little heart can come up with, because who doesn't like a little old fashioned friendly texting. (Or enemy texting, if that's more your bag.)

instructions: What it says on the tin! Leave a comment with your character, include preferences, a start, absolutely nothing or whatever you want. Run around and reply to others. Lather, rinse, repeat.

[ The fact that she even thinks he would actually need to... 💔 ]

[ He naturally makes it to the precinct without incident, and considers proudly announcing it so, but then he wonders if he can’t catch her by surprise instead.

So he tucks his phone away midtext and allows himself to be distracted, greeting their various other coworkers on the way in. ]

[ A sad face emoji.... and that’s all she gets from him after? Makes her wonder if he did end up crashing on the way there. Hrm. She has an internal debate on whether or not she should send a message, just to check in after moments pass, but with a shrug she’s going back to the documents on her desk.

Some boxes ticked off. Some ‘i’s dotted and some ‘t’s topped off. Chloe begins to rise up from her chair as she’s scribbling her signature at the bottom to sign off on the reports that had come in that morning. Of course, in all of that, her thoughts still drift to him. ]

[ The door bursts open suddenly when Lucifer opens it. He has his head turned like he’s talking to someone, with the bag containing Chloe’s real breakfast dangling from his hand; but after a short moment he slips in, taking in the scene cheerily.

...At least, as cheerily as he can, seeing what she is notably still doing.

It is striking though, how she manages to make such mundane tasks look so much more appealing... and with that thought in his head, he places the bag next to her and slides into his favorite seat. (Because he definitely has one.) ]

You know, you could teach me your signature. [ he offers, as if they’d just been discussing how to make all this less tedious. There is a teasing edge to his voice that definite has a Just kidding. Unless... quality to it. ] How long do you suppose it would take for them to catch on?

[ One of her likely most insufferable traits, insufferable to him, is that she tends to end up too focused on her work. Or the task at hand. Might not even be work related. But she does take her job very seriously. Too seriously. Which is why she doesn’t quite notice his grand entrance until he’s placed the bag on her desk and smoothly placed himself in her work space.

By then, everything’s finished. Signature scrawled along the line. ] And you know that forgery is a crime.

[ The folder is snapped shut and her pen dropped into the rickety little metal holder where an assortment of other writing utensils sit. ]

Is this what I think it is? [ Work now set aside, she can reach for the bag, curious as ever. ]

[ Damn. Insufferable, but so easily forgiven...

He can’t tell if her eyes actually lit up as she reached for the bag or if he just imagined it, but he likes to think the former. He watches for reaction with a grin he can’t quite suppress, but manages to look away long enough to start gathering the papers he had interrupted her working on.

Her organization system is still inferior to the one he came up with, he thinks. But he’ll abide by it, nonchalantly answering her question. ]

Yes. Well, I did promise.

[ A notable pause. ]

Sort of—close enough.

Feel free to tell me how I did.

[ Goodness, of course her eyes had lit up! He was bringing her breakfast. There was probably nothing better, especially when she’d been running behind in getting Trixie fed and ready for school. It wasn’t healthy to live off a coffee and a vending machine granola bar.

This gesture was greatly appreciated, expressed in the smile she gives. Chloe can’t even wave him away from fixing up her paperwork, though normally she would. His organization system, to her, was atrocious. Even if he’d had good intentions with trying to be helpful. ]

And you’re a man of your word. [ Always. ]

Mm, [ It certainly smells delicious. The first bite proves it to be exactly that. She should consider having him cook her a full breakfast meal one of these days. ] It’s not bad... You’re just missing one thing.

[ No need to worry. He’s doing it your way this time, Chloe. He tries to look far more invested in this than he actually is, even with the way his smile widens at her comment... but that is, of course, somewhat short-lived, considering the follow-up.

His hands stop moving like his Dad hit pause. His tone is somewhere between offended and curious, but mostly curious. ]

Am I? What’s that?

[ She has to be bluffing. He thought of everything!!! ]

Bacon, [ spoken around a mouthful of golden toasted bread and melted cheese, crispy goodness crunching. Seriously, it was the best. Chloe would’ve done a chef’s kiss to the air, it was that delicious. ] Bacon goes with everything.

[ The piece she'd bitten into is held out as she’s still chewing. ] Want a bite?

[ He deflates slightly. Not quite sure what he expected, honestly, but he feels oddly relieved that it was something so trivial.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t just carry something like bacon with him in his designer suits, but she doesn’t seem to mind all that much. Her offer does take him by surprise, though. ]

Well, sharing is caring, but I did make that especially for you. You should enjoy it.

[ ......It is tempting, though. He stares at the offered piece, lips twitching into a smile as he is reminded of when he stole a sandwich whole from the urchin.

Now he has permission, huh...? ]

It’s just one bite, Lucifer.

[ Chloe gives him a look, half-bitten piece practically dangled within his reach. ]

Unless you’re looking for someone to feed it to you, that’s not in my list of “will do”s. Just so you know.

[ Sharing a piece of her meal with him where others can see, sure, yeah, that’s maybe a little intimate. And she’s a fairly private person. But he’s her partner. They’re practically glued at the hip, whether she likes to admit to it or not. It makes her happy, anyway. ]

Mm. Not surprising, yet... somewhat disappointing.

[ The idea of her feeding him never crossed his mind until then. Also, he’s suddenly interested in this list of “will do”s of hers.

That piece is taunting him, though, despite having already had his own fill earlier.

A subtle smile is all the warning she gets before he leans forward, smoothly taking the bite in his mouth.

Oops. Wait, what did she just say again? ]

[ He would. Of course he would. She never should’ve said anything to begin with because now here they are, her with her eyes widening and brows sharply lifting and him all leaned forward in that stupid expensive designer suit that always make him look good with all the layers ready to be picked off one by one. And oh, did we fail to mention already that his lips had come close to her fingertips in taking that bite? ‘Cause they did.

Chloe feels her face go warm, for a multitude of reasons, and she’s scrambling for something to say in response. People are looking. It’s embarrassing. ]

Lucifer— [ a quiet hiss, the flush on her cheeks splotchy. More than obvious. Hoping he’s got his teeth in the bread and cheese, she’s about to pull the sandwich piece away, unsure how to go about covering up her awkwardness. Even with Dan she would have to remind him about no PDA while they were at work.

Pleasure and work, she didn’t mix those together. It complicated things. ]

[ Lucifer is barely aware of any audience they may have; which is unlike him, since he usually eats up the attention. He simply makes a cheeky sound, like “What?” (with his mouth full) in response to his name. His shoulders shrug as he licks his fingers, then reaches for a napkin, plenty of which had been in the bag as well. ]

Well, you insisted, Detective.

Sorry, but it’s all out of my system now, so you know.

[ So he does a little swirling motion with his hand, like “carry on.”

While she does, he picks back up where he left off with the paperwork, sorting them back into those folders and putting those folders back by date.

Bo-ring, but least she already did most of the heavy lifting. ]

What’s “out of your system”? [ she answers before she’s taking another bite from the sandwich, eyeing him. And yes, yes she might be having a panicking moment over the way he’s sorting through everything thinking he’s doing it wrong and going to wreck her system exactly like the last time.

Quickly finishing off half of the grilled cheese, now she’s going for a napkin to wipe her hands and wipe it over her mouth. ]
