The Piggyback Ride Meme

Ahhh. The immortal piggyback ride. So versatile, there are so many uses for it—to transport the injured and the beloved, as a means of showing affection, and to even play. It's not just for romance. It can be done between parent and child, siblings, friends, medic and patient, even complete strangers and, in those rare moments, mortal enemies! Just be sure the person can carry you, yeah?

How this works:
→ Leave a comment with the usual information in the subject line: character name, fandom. Any preferences, including what you don't want, should be included as well. If you want, indicate if you want your character to Carry, Be Carried, or Both.
→ Congratulations. Your character is one half of a piggyback ride with whoever tags them!
→ Tag around.
→ Feel free to roll RNG (1-9) if you cannot come up with scenarios of your own.
→ Have fun, and be excellent to each other!

1 — Injury. (You can't walk like that. Here, let me carry you . . . )
2 — Romantic. (Obligatory shippy option.)
3 — Escape. (You're on the run and one of you is moving too slow or can't move at all!)
4 — Surprise! (That back right there? I'm going to jump the fuck on it and they don't even know it yet!)
5 — Duty. (EMT, military and disaster recovery personnel, firemen, etc. are sometimes required to carry civilians like this.)
6 — Game. (Chicken fight, park games, made-up games, whatever!)
7 — Wasted. (Go home, you're drunk. Except you can't walk . . . )
8 — Platonic or Familial. (It's such a beautiful day, can I carry you?)
9 — Fuck da police. (In other words, the random/whatever option.)

The chances of you being included in away parties is slim to none, Leonard, you're the Chief Medical Officer of a Constitution-class Starship, you're needed on board, they can send one of your underlings down to the planets if they have to, they said.

Fucking liars, all of them.

Sure, he probably could have — and should have, honestly — sent one of the other doctors on board down on this particular away mission, as it had been billed as something of a milk run and didn't need the expertise of the CMO, but after nearly five years trapped in that tin can with the rest of the hot-shit crew Jim cultivated, Leonard had gotten used to a certain degree of...adventure. And okay, maybe he was getting bored, stuck in his office all day, filing reports and doing paperwork. Maybe he'd even asked Jim if there was anything coming up that would require a medical officer to be part of the landing party. So sue him.

Miracle of miracles, Jim hadn't included himself in the away team, and neither had Spock. Being the highest-ranking officer in the away party was something of a novelty, and he'd even been in such a jocular mood that he'd insisted that the Ensign from Engineering call him "Bones" because he had such trouble with McCoy, of all things.

He wasn't going to be calling anyone much of anything, anymore, not with half his torso missing from that photon blast.

The away party — six of them in total; six vibrant, brilliant minds housed in miraculous collections of cells that made up some of the bravest members of Starfleet — is down to just two now: himself, and Jaylah. Having graduated from the Academy on an accelerated program (undoubtedly helped along by Jim badgering the brass until she was given a commission on their ship), she'd come back to the Enterprise to work under Scotty in Engineering, the bright red of her uniform a stark contrast to her chalk-white skin. Leonard, who had very little to do with Engineering when he wasn't busy grafting tissue over burns they'd managed to acquire through some stunt he wanted to know nothing about thank you very much, hadn't had much opportunity to talk to her before today, but it looks like they're going to have one hell of a lot of time for chit chat if they can't figure out how the hell to contact the Enterprise.

Trying to ignore the wound in his leg that's made walking so difficult, Leonard defaults to his favorite pastime: complaining. At least when he's running his mouth, he won't think too hard about the blood caked under his nails or the dirt and soot trapped under his collar. ]

Of course now would be the perfect time for a goddamn ion storm to form. Knock out all our communicators and cut us off from the ship, that's perfect! Render half my medical equipment completely useless, great! I love tourniquets. There's nothing more exciting than the prospect of losing a limb because of cutting off the circulation entirely, leading to tissue death even our bio-beds can't heal.

[just southwest of zora's domain, around ralis pond, a petite blue zora tripped, fell, and sprained his ankle trying to run away from a moblin in a blind panic. fortunately for him, sidon was around to fend off the beast and keep him from being turned into raw meat... unfortunately for sidon, the poor thing has not stopped crying since he was rescued, although the prince has been kind enough to offer him a piggyback ride back to zora's domain. oops.

oddly, this zora doesn't seem to be any of the usual royal subjects...]
