[Sherlock's hands tighten involuntarily on Jim's suit when he returns to him. The desire to smother other people is not a new impulse to him, but to do it by cuddling is definitely a new sensation. The dancing isn't helping, but despite knowing he needs to get his bearings back, he cannot seem to let the other man go.]

Yet another thing we're evenly matched in.

[Affection is something that James knows how to imitate, despite not being able to really feel it. He rests his head against Sherlock's shoulder and alters the dance to a simple, close bodied, shuffle. The need to be pressed against Sherlock is not unwelcome, even if it is a bit inexplicable.]

We're a pair, you and I.

We're not the same.

[Though it's hard to deny the way they seem to fit together. Sherlock has no question about the fact that Jim's dangerous, but he's so many other things as well. Things that Sherlock has never found in anyone else. No one's been able to keep up with him before, let alone surprise him. It's a rare quality and one that he has to admire, even as much as he knows he must be cautious of it.]

Not the same, but a set, regardless. [To Jim, Sherlock is his last hope. Though that is something impossible to really explain. He does not want to explain either.

Instead, he simply remains fitted just right, lingering until it becomes unwise to indulge in this. Jim pulls his head back and looks up.]

[Sherlock isn't about to admit that for a moment he was lost between the soft shuffle of their feet or the warmth of Jim's body against his own. Instead he blinks quickly when Jim pulls back slightly, schooling his features as best he can.] You have something to say.

I'm going to make you wish you'd never heard of me.

[It's soft enough that it could almost be mistaken for a lover's confession.] You'll understand pain in ways you never have before.

[Sherlock gives a small huff and forces the corners of his mouth to move up, though his eyes remain locked on Jim's.] I'd like to see you try.
