SHAME YOUR CHARACTER! the meme

SHAME YOUR CHARACTER! the meme

Familiar with the concept of 'pet shaming'? Basically, your pet does something bad, you give them a sign, and take a picture so the whole world knows their sins. Google has many examples. Now. We do this for our characters.

○ Post with your character! Name and Canon in the header.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR COMMENT BLANK. BLANK COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED.

○ A magical invisible fairy has placed a shame sign on your character of whatever terrible (or terribly embarrassing) thing your character is guilty of. Write what this sign says in the comment section.

○ Tag out! Make a new friend! And by make a new friend I mean make fun of them!

Dare I ask in which manner you find yourself using furniture for?

Furniture is meant to be used for convenience and comfort, that society seems to believe there are specific ways it must be used to achieve that is quite... Strange to me.

..I simply use it in the manner I find most convenient or conducive to clear and logical thinking at the time.

So, in short, you end up putting your feet where you're not supposed to?

[personal profile] gadaboutdetective 2019-08-15 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Given what I’ve been told on several occasions about the matter? I suppose I would have to say yes if we’re adhering to the opinions of others.
thequitecontrary: (eh?)

[personal profile] thequitecontrary 2019-08-15 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Feet don't tend to belong in a place where a person might later sit. Surely you wouldn't want to sit on a dirty couch?
gadaboutdetective: (13)

I’m so sorry Mary >>;;

[personal profile] gadaboutdetective 2019-08-15 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Then why do people sit on the ground during picnics or in the sand at the beach? Is the dirt of the outdoors any different than that on ones feet once it crosses the threshold into the house? Can we not clean clothing or furniture if the dirt becomes a distraction?
thequitecontrary: (pursed)

Bless him

[personal profile] thequitecontrary 2019-08-15 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[ Mary raises an eyebrow. ]

I don’t sit on the ground. Furniture can certainly be cleaned, but it doesn’t need to be cleaned as often if feet stay off of it. Some dirt is unsanitary, particularly if one has been around horses.

You don’t? That is a pity, it offers an interesting change in perspective sometimes and is quite convenient if no seat is readily available near a food vendors cart.

[He pauses, returning his focus to the matter of dirt after getting a bit side tracked over the notion that she has never sat on the ground before.]

While I admit you have a point about unsanitary kinds of dirt, one could watch where they walk or sit in that particular situation to avoid it, if it is a possible concern. I do believe where horses are involved there is a rather pungent odour to warn one of the possibility?

They do. That still does not make it polite to put one's feet on the furniture. I don't think that saying that the upholstery can be cleaned is enough of a compelling argument to do it.

It would seem that we shall be of different minds then. I still suggest you changing your perspective one day by taking a seat you do not normally, as it can be quite refreshing. In turn, I will attempt to keep your opinion in mind should a situation where it may be advisable to follow comes up.

I'd say I'm more likely to sit on furniture improperly than I am to sit on the ground, especially not without a blanket.

Ah, well... At least you are willing to entertain the idea of attempting something new!

I'm not as stodgy as some people might like to think the upper class is.
gadaboutdetective: (Default)

[personal profile] gadaboutdetective 2019-08-18 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Clearly; to mistake you for stodgy would certainly be a crime. Although, in my experience the ‘upper class’ can be just as unique and complicated as everyone else. They just tend to hide it behind a facade of propriety.
thequitecontrary: (hmm)

[personal profile] thequitecontrary 2019-08-18 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That's quite true in my experience as well.
