You've chosen your path and it's led you to one of the worst possible ends. A bad ending you've averted in the past could be coming true after all, a possibility you've always feared could be happening now. It's game over. Please be warned of death, addiction, and other dark themes.How will you rectify all the wrongs you've done? Will you try and undo it entirely by rewriting history or will you atone for yourself in other ways?

1. SURVIVORS' GUILT -- you are the only one(s) left, whether it be the result of the apocalypse, a fight with the final boss gone horribly wrong, or something equally tragic. Now you're left to contemplate friends and loved ones lost, as well as which one of you may be next.

2. DEAD -- you've died or you're dying. Maybe you're nothing more than a ghost who has to live off of what you can see of your friends and family, making attempts to contact them.

3. DISSOCIATION -- you're not sure how, but your memories are fuzzy and the things you do recall are hazy and make you dizzy. Do you even recognize the person in front of you anymore?

4. SICK -- you are seriously ill. Poisoning, virus, perhaps it's even mental; whatever the reason, time is not on your side this time, and you're running out of it.

5. ANTAGONIST -- you've flipped the coin. you had to do it; they might not be able to understand it, but you just can't forgive the things that have happened. the darkness has consumed you.

6.  HATED -- You've tried to make the right choices, every single time, but it seems you've made a mistake along the way, disappointed too many people. Now everyone hates you.

7.  DRUGGED --  Drugs and/or alcohol rule your life and it's destroying you, but you can't step away from them now.

8. SLAVE --  you didn't mean to end up on this side of things, but now you're a slave in the literal sense or maybe to the dark forces you were trying to prevent in the first place.

9. FREE CHOICE -- combine any of the others, or make up your own. The choice is yours!

( I'm super interested in 3/4/8. One is pretty much canon.

Potential ideas I have:

3: After too many traumas (potentially with finding out her immunity meant nothing for other people), Ellie begins to lose track of time and does most things on autopilot.

4: Ellie was not as immune as everyone though she was. She is, slowly but surely, turning into a zombie. Or, foster body horror, she's starting to show the physical effects of being a clicker without the emotional effects.

8: (cw rape/sexual abuse of a minor, etc) During the Winter chapter, Joel dies (or goes missing). Ellie is alone, and takes David up on his offer. She becomes one of his "pets" for quite some time. Eventually gets out, but not after a lot of fucked shit happens. Super dark could involve a young, pregnant Ellie. )

The Wall Of Eden - Six Thousand Years Ago

The rain is still falling down steadily, and the wing that is covering Crawly is, in fact, keeping the water off nicely.

Seems a bit rude to just ... take advantage of that. He is a demon, after all, but he's already gotten Adam and Eve kicked out of Eden and this ... really familiar looking angel did give up his flaming sword - Very Familiar Flaming Sword - to give them some protection.

So Crawly lifts up his wing, curving it over the angel's head, and squints at him again with golden serpent's eyes.

"I know you from somewhere, don't I? You haven't always been guarding the Eastern Gate."

No one disputed the decision. If any of God's Holy angels were going to be assigned to watch over the Almighty's brand-new Creation, it had to be Aziraphale. The Archangels were quite a bit more powerful but they needed to remain on call for special missions. Of all the lesser angels, not only was Aziraphale one of the highest-ranked and best warriors but had proven himself in battle. When God commanded him to turn on his own kind he didn't hesitate, nor did he falter when it became apparent just how awful a fate the Fallen would be forced to suffer.

The Warrior Angel Aziraphale had proven himself more cold-blooded, more merciless, than any of the Damned. His fanatic loyalty to God's will was beyond question. No one, but no one, would get through the Eastern Gate of Eden without God's personal okay. They could all trust him to do whatever he had to do.

And the other angels wanted to stay as far away from him as possible, so his being the only angel assigned to the physical plane suited them just fine.

The angel Aziraphale looked out upon all the newborn life in Creation, and upon the innocence of the most beloved of all forms. Humans. Earth's sentient beings, fragile and beautiful and complex corporeal things. He was their protector, not from the Fallen or the other angels or from God's various other Earth creatures. Those all belonged here, were allowed free access to Paradise. Aziraphale was stationed here to ensure they would remain safe from the other life forms that inhabited different parts of the multiverse.

It was no surprise when one of them showed up, probably curious about the newest addition to the cosmic ecosystem. Before the War in Heaven, Aziraphale would have smited the creature as soon as it appeared, and without a second thought. But that was before. This time, the Guardian of the Eastern Gate held aloft his Flaming Sword of Righteousness to block the physical being's path.

"That's close enough," he said, speaking with calm menace in the creature's native tongue.
