You forgot your compass, lost the map, took the instructions of that crazy old guy living in a log, or were just plain stupid and falling for every horror movie cliché. Someone mentioned that it wasn't raining, someone really insulted a psychopath squirrel, and whatever plans you had were utterly ruined. Or maybe, despite everything, it went along perfectly. Whatever happened, you’re lost in the woods and there doesn’t seem to be a quick way out. Will you get back onto the path easily, or will you stumble upon some trouble? Or not? Anything is possible!

WARNING: Some of the prompts below include horror elements, so be sure to plan things ahead!

PICKING FLOWERS ✿ Nothing simpler than going out and collecting some flowers. It is to brighten up a room? Cheer up a sick friend? Woo a loved one? Wait a moment… where did the path back home go?

HIKING TRIP ✿ Gotta love getting some exercise and fresh air, seeing new sights, and getting to the top of a summit. Hold on. You were supposed to turn left. Right?

PICNIC ✿ You had the perfect picnic spot in mind, and it was going to be a lovely afternoon, but you lost the map or took a wrong turn. Might as well find a decent spot somewhere before you get too hungry.

EXPLORING ✿ Everyone loves to explore the woods! Will you see deer or squirrels? Maybe find a creek you didn’t know about? Or lose sight of your house?

GAME ✿ You were playing paintball or hide and seek, but somehow, you lost your way and cannot find your way back to your friends. Hopefully they’re looking for you.

BATTLE ✿ Your worst enemy (or the latest criminal of the day) thinks that they can lose you in the woods, but they are totally wrong. But the woods are deeper and darker than you thought, and there are more dangers in it too.

HUNTING ✿ The woods are the perfect place to find a hiding spot for a criminal or someone else who might be running from you. But what is a haven could also be your undoing if you don’t know how to get out of there alive.

STRANGE SIGHTING ✿ Come on! You’re not going to let whatever that was get away, are you? Time to find that mysterious crash or that ghost, but you have only yourself to blame if you get into trouble and can’t get out of it.

LOOKING FOR CLUES ✿ Some sort of mystery is going on, from a ghost story to a jewel heist, and clues have led you to the woods. Will you find the hide out? A crime scene? More clues to reveal who or what is going on? Or just get more lost?

LEGEND ✿ There is a legend about these woods, and it’s always been a dare to go into them and see if you can find the truth behind it: a ghost, a creature, a god. But the thing is, no one ever got lost in the woods on the dare, and no one has ever found it before.

BEING HUNTED ✿ You’re being hunted by a psychopath or something just as equally as horrifying. You have no other option but to go into the woods, but in your fear, you lost your way and you just might be heading back where you don’t want to go.

GHOSTS ✿ From ticking someone off to doing a taboo ritual, ghosts are out to get you. Can you lose them in the haunted forest or will you just meet your doom?

MONSTER CHASING ✿ A werewolf, the creature from the black lagoon, or a vampire, you are hunting down something not human with a vengeance. Wait. They might be hunting you, since you have no clue where you are in this dratted forest.

EVIL CABIN ✿ It was supposed to be a nice vacation, just a simple get away… but how were you supposed to know that a serial killer was vacationing there too? Or that it was cursed? Or something else that wants to kill you?

ANCIENT GROUNDS ✿ The tour guide told you not to step beyond those rocks for a reason! These were sacred grounds and now you have to face the wrath of ancient guardians. Can you lose them in the woods or figure out how to appease them?

EVERY ACCIDENT EVER ✿ You lost the map. The tents won’t go up. Someone broke their leg collecting firewood. Those leaves were poison ivy. You know the drill.

LOST THE MAP ✿ Was it that evil raccoon? Or perhaps you forgot it at the camp three miles back? Whatever the reason, you’ve decided that you’re just going to follow the trail wherever it goes, and it turned out to be your worst decision ever.

COMPASS IS WRONG ✿ The magnetic fields of the world is just messing with you now, sending you in a direction you didn’t want to go. But it might be a fun, if crazy, adventure. But is that the same bear you messed with earlier this morning?

WRONG DIRECTIONS ✿ We told you not to listen to that crazy old mountain man! Because instead of heading home, you’re up the wrong mountain.

ON PURPOSE ✿ Yes, you got lost on purpose. Not really, though. You just really wanted to pull a prank on your friends, or maybe get back at them.

SURPRISE ✿ Did you bake them a ten foot high cake? Is it a surprise party? Or are you just being an awesome boyfriend or girlfriend? You have something planned in the forest and it’s going to be a wonderful day for everyone involved.

SECULUDED SPOT ✿ Everyone loves some place quiet and alone to be with their loved one. Hidden in the trees, a creek bubbling in the background, and stars above, there is nothing like going into the middle of nature to do nature things.

PROPOSAL ✿ On a hike, at the top of a difficult mountain to climb, in a field of flowers in the middle of the forest, a bunch trees can be just the spot to pop the question.

MAGICAL WONDER ✿ You have got to show someone this! A cave filled with crystals, a baby deer with its mother, a beautiful lake… They might not like the woods, but you’re dragging them with you to see this wonderful sight you can’t see in the city.

DATE ✿ It’s certainly different from movies and popcorn! Do you have a picnic set up? Is there fishing involved? Perhaps bird watching. Be creative!

RAIN ✿ How many times do you have to see it in movies before you learn not to say, “At least it’s not raining?”

INJURY ✿ A sprained ankle, a concussion, maybe even a splinter. Any sort of injury is going to make an experience in the woods more miserable.

FOREST RANGER ✿ Is he friendly and goofy? Or just out to give you every ticket that you can be given in a forest? Either way, he won’t leave you alone.

WEIRD NOISE ✿ Yes, we know you’re hearing things. Wait, I think I heard it too. Is there something there, or are we just going insane?

STALKER ANIMAL ✿ This animal is just out to get you! Throwing acorns at any chance, determined to eat you… You just can’t scare it off!

There is something about saving the world together that creates a closer connection between people in a mere few minutes than might under normal circumstances be reasonable. Or, perhaps, it comes down to the fact that in this case, all people involved happen to be a little bit more than human, and so they can know one another quicker, in a different way than a human might strictly know a human. Being an angel, a demon, and an Antichrist who's not technically the Antichrist anymore but who opted to keep plenty of the abilities that came with it anyway, well.

It probably makes significant a difference.

Adam isn't thinking too much about that, though. Aziraphale and Crowley were there when he rejected his supposed real dad with his heart all the way up in his throat and a sort of terror settled deep in him that had somehow still felt pretty all right. Maybe it had something to do with being the literal spawn of Satan. It would make sense that terror and fright and other unpleasant and bad things felt like they belonged to you.

Anyway. They're connected now, because they saved the world together. Or Adam saved the world and the angel and demon were there as moral support. Not to knock the moral support; Adam had truly appreciated it. The point is, they're connected, and once everyone has had a chance to ensure that everything has been restored to its rightful place and state (with some minor changes), there isn't really a reason to pretend nothing happened and like they're complete strangers.

Which is how Adam gains two new friends that are already strange because they're adults, never mind that they're six thousand years old and not human. Maybe, at some point, he'll have to let his dad know about it - some of it - but he can't really answer any questions about how they know one another and how he knows that these men aren't one bit dangerous, without going into the whole Armageddon and Heaven and Hell mess. So he opts not to say anything at all. And, if he's asked, he'll say that he absolutely did say something.

He doesn't know entirely where he's led them. It's a forest, but they've walked for quite some time, and it's pretty simple: He's looking for an ideal spot. The spot can't be the Them's spot, because that's their spot, so it has to be somewhere else. He doesn't even know how big this forest actually is, really. He's also kind of let Dog lead the way, and the dog seems more occupied with sniffing furiously at the ground and occasionally stopping to stare at a squirrel than sticking close to him.

Then Adam sees it. A soft patch of grass, a purling stream of water, and the sun shining through the branches to offer just a hint of warmth so you don't have to be cold. He tugs gently at the leash - which he's already considered a few times if he should take off, but with all the squirrels and other critters he's not so sure - to get Dog's attention as he turns to march straight towards it.

There were places in the High Forest where the barrier between the Prime and other realms was thin. Where mortals could and often did slip into another world completely. Those who wandered into Faerie met a number of different fates. The fey inhabitants often took an interest in the lost travelers. Whether for ill or good, the fair folk had always held a fascination for mortal creatures. They took them in or simply took them at their whim to play with or use however they pleased. They made deals with them. They fell in and out of love with their mortal pets with startling frequency or for ages at at a time. The fey were not good or bad in any traditional sense of the word. They followed their own rules, and acted according to a morality often totally alien to their visitors. Some travelers fell prey to the dangers of the feywild before they ever came into contact with its inhabitants. There were even those who found their way out on their own, but it was rare.

The feywild was in short as dangerous as it was beautiful. Wonderful and terrible Sometimes seductive. At other times deeply disturbing. Everything was brighter, more fantastic, stranger.

It was here where the first elves had dwelled. When their forms were still fluid and magic was their lifeblood. There were traces of that ancestry still in all elves, but most had long since left the feywild. The elves that remained called themselves the Eladrin. They had retained their ability to shift form, but their magic was still a pale shadow of what it had been. Still they were the closest to what had come before, and they prided themselves on their ancestry.

There was no community of Eladrin near when Solarion passed through from Prime to Faerie, but there was one of them near. Eira had not spotted him yet, but something else had. A shimmering portal appeared in the air, and out of it leapt a massive hound, who looked right at the errant light elf, threw back its head, and howled.
