Cloud wasn't entirely sure what happened. He was pretty sure he had been out fighting Heartless, right? Just a normal every day thing. Patrol, hunt, food somewhere in between there, shower, bed, rinse and repeat. Right? Granted, it wasn't always the same every day. It never was with Yuffie or Sora or Merlin, but there was a routine.

Waking up in bed right after hunting Heartless was not part of that routine. At least not for a few more hours. So, what was going on? There was also the awful feeling in his head, it felt like it was filled with cotton and his body ached something fierce. Had he been hit then? It didn't feel like the normal hurts of getting hit though. Not really. He finally opened his eyes, everything looked blurry but Cloud made an effort to try and see just where he was. What he didn't know was that his face was flush with fever, his already bright eyes even brighter than usual. He had gotten sick and didn't even realize it.

Trust Cloud to keep pushing himself like that. Keep pushing to the point of collapse. Or ignore other signs. Stubborn is as stubborn does, and while there's a lot Leon wanted to say about finding Cloud like that, he doesn't exactly have a leg to stand on. He's done the same thing before. In the end, it also just ended up entirely thrown out the proverbial window compared to the sobering worry that'd slammed into him when Leon had done a quick check to see what may have been wrong, only to find nothing extremely immediate. No blood, no wounds, but Cloud looked absolutely awful...

Yeah, not a chance in hell Leon would have left him out there like that. The logical thing to do was to bring him somewhere Cloud could be looked after. Just not anywhere Cloud would get bombarded. So, where is he? Home, in the bed they tended to share more often than not these days. Home, in sleepwear, under warm blankets.

Rather than any lecture about how stupid it was to ignore that he'd been getting sick when Leon comes to check on him, Cloud just gets a soft, worried frown and a cold compress pressed to the blonde forehead after he's set water down on the bedside table. "You've been out for a while..."

Once he saw Leon's face and felt the cold compress, his brain finally caught up with him. He was home, in different clothes, and he was very much not outside. It was quiet too. Normally, when something like this happened, the girls were fussing. Even Cid would, sometimes. But no, it was quiet and Leon still had that look on his face.

A while?

"How long's a while?" He winced, throat dry and unused.

Thankfully, neither of the girls had been with him, and Cid was busy. Cloud had a routine, and when Leon hadn't at least heard from him at around the usual time... well, Leon's glad he trusted his gut and went to look for Cloud. Not because Cloud can't handle himself, more because...

All right, so perhaps he's not quite ready to even mentally go there yet. Still, he nods, sitting himself on the edge of the bed. "Brought you in this afternoon. Past ten now. You should drink some water, if you can."

Cloud wasn't quite still understanding what happened to him. His brain too muddled and tired but water sounded like heaven right now. But he also didn't really want to move because he body ached and the cold on his forehead felt so good. It was perhaps another embarrassingly long moment that he finally realized that, oh, he was sick.

That's why he felt the way he did. That's why Leon looked like that. That explained... quite a bit. He instantly felt bad. He didn't want to make Leon worry, after all. He had enough to worry about. Cloud also just wasn't entirely sure where they stood just yet, either. They shared a bed together, more often than not, and they went out together when they knew no one would be watching.

They were together, but Cloud wasn't sure exactly what that meant yet. Cloud shook his head of the thought and, instead, pushed reluctantly pushed himself up. "Doesn't feel like ten."

But it was dark out so, Leon wasn't lying.
