It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they? i n s t r u c t i o n s • Post with your character (note the name and fandom in the subject). • Other people reply to you by generating a number from 1 to 10. • Have fun! o p t i o n s 01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet. 02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops. 03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it. 04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them... 05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort. 06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help? 07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on. 08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them. 09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you. 10 • WILDCARD. Choose one of the options above, or make up your own scenario.

not that riku suspected guarding a prince of the royal line would ever come easily, but... perhaps it had been meant as something less intensive? it was an endless thought until his reassignment, and even then, after getting to know nisaka on a more personal level, he never felt that ease click into place. there were always dangers, of course. overzealous people, death threats, or kidnapping attempts—none ever made it beyond that. yet, even after all the time they've spent with each other in close proximity, there's something that riku can't quite pinpoint. something that isn't making this "easy". and he thinks about it for so long that it cuts into the time he should be resting, which is laughable considering his position and how little sleep he already gets.

so, in an effort to combat the feeling, he dismisses the guard stationed almost lazily outside the prince's door – some older guy who always tries to argue given riku's age (as if that would change the amount of experience he has) – and helps himself inside the room without a word. given the other's habits, it's a fifty-fifty shot that he's still awake. but regardless of that, riku takes a seat in the chair across from the door: a good position to be in given that he can see every window and the adjoining bathroom door of the hotel suite they're staying in. going over the itinerary for the following day might not be the most productive thing given the hour, but at least it would be out of the way.

but even then, riku doesn't say much. he stays vigilant, unsure why something in the back of his mind says he should be here right now; he's never disregarded a gut feeling before, so he keeps his gaze trained on the far side of the room, perfectly aware of the other's silhouette in the dark room. )

Insomnia is not a stranger to Loic. He has his measures against it, such as they are: plenty of exercise, melatonin, the occasional stronger sleep aid, or just simply keeping himself busy until he's fallen asleep on his desk at some absurd hour.

He'd managed none of those things today, and sleep had remained- somewhat predictably- stubbornly out of reach. That was fine. He could have stayed in his tiny apartment, but New York is the city that never sleeps, so why not venture out?

It's 'ass o'clock', as he's heard it said, and Loic is in a tiny corner diner, empty save for one other patron. He sits at the counter, for a couple of moments, and orders not just a cup of coffee, but specifically two. He gets up then, both cups in hand, and crosses to the other lone customer with a bright smile.

"Bonsoir. Can I interest you in coffee and some company?" Well, at least it's not a cheesy pick up line. Though, with a lone man approaching a lone woman, perhaps it remains to be seen whether he's trying to hit on her or not. For what it's worth, his body language remains casually friendly, eyes remaining politely on the girl's gaze.

[If Myrcella's mother knew that she was out of bed when she should have been asleep -- if she knew that she'd done it even once! -- she'd certainly do something drastic. Post guards directly outside of her bedroom, lock her in perhaps. But Cersei has other concerns in the middle of the night, and really, what harm is there in putting on just enough to be decent and going to the gardens to watch the stars?

Usually she's careful. Just enough candlelight to navigate by, she keeps her voice down. Doesn't bring any of her friends, really; this is her private time. She likes being able to think without being disturbed or having expectations put on her. She likes the freedom of having this one little thing to herself.

Tonight is different, though. Tonight she's using her time under the stars to contemplate her suddenly-written future and, honestly, to brood about it. She's a child! She shouldn't be sent off like a letter. She should be here, with her family, not...

[Sometimes, there's nothing like a nice walk to clear the mind. So when Ryan finds himself temporarily stuck on an issue with the serum he's developing, he heads right out to do exactly that. Sure, it's two in the morning, but time starts to lose meaning in the lab. He keeps his own hours, and if he wants to go out in the middle of the night for a stroll, he'll do it.

With a taser and his messenger bag packed with emergency items, of course.

Though the noises of the city are unquestionably distracting, once he makes his way to the park, they fade enough for him to start relaxing. Even at this time of night, there's enough light to see by, especially near the benches — presumably, the city doesn't want homeless people trying to sleep on them. He keeps his hands tucked in his pockets as he walks, one wrapped around the taser just in case.

Eventually, he reaches the playground. If he were alone, he would probably use the swings for a little while, but there's a girl already there. It's difficult to gauge her exact age. A teenager? Definitely too young to be out on her own at this hour.]
