As for scenarios I sort of have one. Maybe something in Eulmore-- where Emet asks your WoL to dance - like proper turn about the room. I am sure there is always some sort of dance or ball going on in Eulmore ]

Oh my god yes- Bonus he can dance for like performances, but little experience dancing with a partner, Emet gets to teach him for maximum doki-levels, y/n?]

[It felt almost nostalgic. He'd been to gatherings like this in the past, before his adventuring days. Not as a guest, but the troupe his family traveled had enough skilled members that they could expect to entertain at events put on by the rich and powerful. It didn't mean he had relaxed at all, even if to anyone who didn't know him he'd look like he was. A familiar eye would note the tension in shoulders and the edgy flick of his tailtip. Not that he was truly aware of the strain he always seemed to be under these days. He couldn't afford to be.

Tense or no, it was still nice to stop for a bit, and Khaishan had settled near the fountain for the moment, watching the couples happily turning across the dance floor.]

[ Little known fact about Emet-Selch was that he actually enjoyed to dance. It was not something that one would attribute to an Ascian however he had walked alongside mankind enough to enjoy things that most Ascians felt were frivolous. It was not a weakness that he himself would reveal to the scions, after all they needn't know that his favorite flower was hyacinth and that he had always invested heavy funding into the arts as Emperor Solus.

But as he stood there with his back to the door frame, his booted foot tapping lightly to the music, he wished there was someone decent to dance with-- arms crossed over his chest and scanning the swathe of bodies on the dance floor. Then his eyes alighted on the Warrior of Light and his eyebrow raised just a bit. He would not of pegged the other man for a wallflower but mayhaps it was the strain.

Hard thing really, being the Warrior of Darkness-- with all that excess aether.

A decision flickered in his gold eyes and then he pushed himself away from the wall.. his steps leading to where the other man was sitting by the fountain.]

What? No dancing? Ah! but I had pegged you for one who adored to move...

[Khaishan might not know much about Emet-Selch. The Ascian was very cagey when it came to himself, for all the Au Ra had started to ask things beyond what was simply required for figuring out Emet's 'schemes'. The other Scions were of course wary about this but if they were to work together for some manner of compromise, he couldn't be the only one making some manner of effort to reach out. And besides that fact, he did find him strangely fascinating, not that he'd admitted as much. But then it was fairly easy to guess with how he always made a point to talk to the Ascian whenever he was hanging about.

Nor had he been expecting anyone to approach now that the party was in full swing, glowing gaze skipping to Emet-Selch at his commentary with a faint smile.]

Dancing? I suppose I should admit I've never really had cause to try couples dancing. Or with both feet on the ground either. [A faint chuckle as he settled back, a slight bit of tension easing from the set of his shoulders.] What about you?

[ Truth that Emet was ridiculously hard to get to know, it was because he kept his secrets save for the ones that he thought was good enough for the grand party of light-- tossing the out like the breadcrumbs that were cast to the poor to the city underneath Eulmore; he did not waste time though at times he could be said to waste words-- though not the important ones; never those. Though generally Emet reacted in kind-- he was very mutable in that way. Be antagonistic, you were undoubtedly going to get the sharp end of his tongue-

And perhaps that is exactly why Emet-Selch was the one to approach this time, because he was entirely aware that Khaishan was making an effort-- an effort was then very much worth one in kind.

Emet looked like he probably should be holding a wine glass, those fingers were after all made for wine-- except he didn't, because he was on a mission just the same as the Scions--

However the music drew him, as it always did; made him aware of what it was like to at least act human for a little while. Music soothed the savage beast, but he was not the savage beast precisely-- though all the same, there was some echo of the beast about him-- deep inside, buried behind the veil of civility.]

I adore dancing--

[ this was said almost off handed, it was once again a breadcrumb that he tossed, but it strangely was touchingly human. ]

When one has lived as long as I, one finds something to enjoy else be subjected to everlasting boredom-- which in my opinion is far far worse than light...

[It was easy enough to notice that element to Emet-Selch. That reaction and proclivity to give just what he received. It was incredibly noticeable when he watched the Ascian and the other Scions, compared to the quiet conversations that Khaishan's questions tended to bring, even if Emet was sparing with actual information. Tone and attitude were just as telling in their own ways after all. But it didn't mean that Khaishan wasn't genuine in his attempts to reach out. It was his way after all to try and find common ground and reach out to others, finding friends and allies in strange and unlikely places.

But this wasn't about being allies. People were more important than politics or advantages found with them after all. And from the information that he'd learned so far about Emet, the immortal struck him as... lonely.]

Do you have a favorite style? [That comment about boredom just made the idea stronger, making that want to properly befriend the Ascian stronger in him.] I can't even begin to imagine the styles you've seen and tried over the years.

[ it was so rare that someone asked him about what he sincerely liked, though there was something that well-- he couldn't truly be angry nor mean with the Warrior of Light, to be perfectly honest. He very well knew that Khaishan had not chosen this path, he could see it in the way that the man held himself. It was a tendril of being unsure-- he had been that way once upon a time, hard as that probably was to imagine. But that was another place-- and another time.

Motioning toward the people swirling about the floor with a gloved hand-- he had been well versed in dancing, there had been never ending state functions in Garlemald that had demanded adept movements on the dance floor, also the intrigue that happened on the dance floor, that was another form and function of it so perhaps he associated intrigue with dancing, with the subtle thrill of out maneuvering a partner or prying information from a tenuous frenemy.

He took a seat down next to Khaishan, leaning forward and wresting his forearms on his thighs as was part and parcel for the somewhat less than stellar posture that he had-- but that was an aftereffect of spending so much time in an old man's body. You tended to adopt that of the skin upon which you dwelled

In the Empire, it is very wretchedly cold, nearly all around-- and so balls are held-- very practical really, because the more movement you make, the warmer you are. The garleans of earlier times would dance around a fire to make themselves warm, and then as civility was brought, so was the need for a masses of people to gather around in a room, to escape the cold; and to ease winters still too cold.

[Khaishan was quiet, listening to Emet-Selch as they watched the dancers together. A faint smile playing over his face as he glanced over at the man.]

Not unlike back home then. My tribe lives in the desert, and I remember when I was younger just how cold it got at night, enough so to freeze smaller containers of water solid if one wasn't mindful. We'd make one big bonfire for everyone, and everyone would dance. Not like this, in pairs, but almost like competitions in itself. It was all in good fun though. People would trade off dancing or playing an instrument, maybe even singing... you could always find your way back to camp by following the echos of music.

[Khaishan didn't speak much of his home life, or things from before he'd started down this strange and terrifying path. Mentions here and there but always in passing, not unlike Emet and his breadcrumbs. This was a bit more than that though, with a wistful edge to his expression and tone.]

Even after we relocated to Eorzea we never broke the habit of those games. Makes me wonder if that's what my sisters are doing now.

[Assuming night had fallen there as well as here, that was. But that went without saying.]
