You go into a new class and you could swear you've seen your classmate before but you've never met them. You pass a bakery and the scent evokes something in you that you can't quite place. You have memories that you shouldn't have of a life you didn't live. But what if you had? What if those memories were real? Someone you meet on the street may have been your friend, family, lover. When you see them, will you remember? Will it take time for the memories to filter back or will they strike you all at once? Do you even want to remember? How are you going to deal with past joys, traumas, passions, hurts? Do you remember how you died? Does it haunt you at night? Are your relationship dynamics changed? How are you going to navigate this new life?

[ it isn't as though heinkel hasn't had time to mourn what she's lost. which is a lot. which is everything. she doesn't take over iscariot because she doesn't want it, but she does submit to experimentation, becomes father anderson's sucessor, and--somehow, it works. she's whole again, mostly, though the scarring is horrific. not like anyone is going to see it.

they still pull recruits from the orphanage, sometimes, but outsiders sometimes volunteer too, to fight for god--and for now, she's overseeing the newest recruits, sat at a desk that makes her uncomfortable. she's looking over paperwork when the door opens and she doesn't so much as glance up yet, gesturing with one gloved hand to the chair in front of the desk as she reads. ]

[ her voice is low, rough, androgynous, and vaguely german. her face is bandaged, inexplicably, though if you look close there's an old wound in her cheek and her jaw isn't healed over properly. she clearly still manages, though. ]
