The stars are falling.

Crowley truly did, he truly thought he'd be safe anywhere else. Anywhere other than Earth. He helped create a lot of the universe, so he thought he knew all of the shining places he could go that weren't here. That weren't where it all was when it ended.

And here is. In Tadfield. And the universe is ending. And oddly enough, the sky is actually really beautiful with the stars falling.

He turns to Aziraphale. It's just them, now. The angels and demons will have taken their posts, ready to fight the War. The big War, War with a capital W. War to end all Wars.

Here on Earth, Starfleet does a better job of practicing what they preach. Despite natural human cruelty, or more likely because of it, the United Federation of Planets required that all beings treated with respect and dignity. Even a notorious terrorist and war criminal in a maximum security facility awaiting trial must be afforded basic comforts and compassionate treatment. The constant scrutiny of Vulcan ambassadors must be what keeps everyone on their best behavior.

Then again, Khan was personally responsible for the successful reviving of Starfleet's favorite ingenue Captain. Once they had provided proof that Khan's people were not only still alive but actually safe from the corrupt leaders who had kept them as hostages, the Augment leader was more than willing to cooperate. Good thing for Kirk, as the Federation scientists were about to try simply injecting Khan's blood into his radiation-ravaged corpse and hoping for a miracle instead of a shambling zombie.

With plastic tubes connecting their circulatory systems, Khan's heart pumped their blood for both of them and his system did the work of filtering out and repairing all of Kirk's damaged cells. Human nervous systems were delicate things even when functioning as well as could be expected of them, but the Captain's had been utterly ravaged and completely dead for almost half an hour before the necessary treatment had begun. It had taken three entire days of lying quietly next to Kirk in the state-of-the-art medbay facility to completely restore his brain function and Khan was still weary from the ordeal.

Now they sat next to each other on reclining chairs on the top floor of Khan's prison, glasses of fine whiskey in their hands, gazing up at the stars through an immaculate dome of transparent aluminum. "When I lived here, a view like this from the middle of a major city would have been impossible."

It feels like lifetimes ago since they had planned or did anything like this, but after all the time bounty hunting, hiding from their original lives, and living new ones Jon feel like they need a little more of their past. Which is why on a warmer night on Winterfell, while they're taking a break between jobs, he's brought her up to the top of one of the towers of the keep they're staying in. It doesn't take a lot to get onto the roof of it, thankfully flat on top so it's perfect for laying out.

There's even already some blankets, furs, pillows and a few snacks and drinks waiting because he'd planned this earlier. Something in him said it was time for something a little quieter tonight though. That they needed to kind of resettle, recenter. That, and they'd been running so much he felt like they needed a little me time.

There's a small smile as he watches her face, to see what she thinks about this surprise. A throwback to their childhood, to innocent times. He's hoping it won't make her sad or angry, that she'll be happy with it. Reaching out, his hand takes hers and he laces fingers with hers. "So, what do you think?"

[It's interesting to think that Kravitz would be at all interested in looking at the stars.

Not because he thinks it's not nice to look at, or anything, but more that Taako kind of figured he wasn't super excited about the prospect of what was out there when he already knew. Kravitz travelled through planes, hung out with gods, did all kinds of crazy ass shit. But when he stopped to think about it, that was sort of true of him, too. Like, fuck, he's an alien to his world, he's been outside of the universe, and yet. Sometimes, it's about appreciating the quiet. Sometimes it's about fishing, or having a picnic, or... yeah, sure, stargazing.

Then again, maybe Kravitz isn't interested. Maybe he's just willing to humor whatever Taako wants to do.

Taako's the one who invited him after all, having snuck up to the Bureau of Benevolence to lie on the quad and look up into the sky. It's easier to see the stars from closer to them, and since no one knows they're here, no one's going to bug him about his location. It's nice, just lying on his back and waiting for the other man to arrive, but when he hears the telltale sign of a portal cutting through from space, he doesn't look-- just smiles with his eyes still on the sky.]
