These days, it's uncommon to have a servant. The wealthy have them, of course, but some of them even eschew that to have a sort of pride in being self-sufficient. Rarer still are the personal servants, the ones bound to just one person and taking care of their every need. They make sure their master or mistress is dressed, fed, and all their affairs are in order. They may double as a bodyguard or personal assistant in other functions, as well. This type of servant was much more common back in the day.

But today, you have one. You've always had one. Or may, you are one, loyal to your employer to the core.

Perhaps you're more of a vassal than a servant, then. You serve because of duty and love; you've been raised to know this your duty for your entire life. Your family has been tied to this family for generations. You could have even been summoned by magic, your whole purpose to serve.

And even if you're not a "true" servant in the sense of the word, there's always people who look out for others. You know the person in the group of friends. They seem bound to the hip to that one specific person, usually someone who actually does need the help, and acts as a mother hen to them. Yes, you're that person.

It all sounds simple enough, then. The problem? The relationship between master and servant has been blurred, and the feelings and bonds here have grown more than they should. The servant doesn't just love the master, they love the master. And it's not that much of a stretch to think that the gesture is reciprocated. But this is an ultimate taboo. Power differences, societal expectations, and conflicts of interest mean that there's a whole mess that can be made. If that line hasn't been crossed yet, keep dancing it. Try to back off, if you can. Do not cross the line. Do not become...more.

If more has come, you are in danger. Will it interfere with the ability of the servant to serve? Will they envy all those in higher stations who can get close to their master? And what about the nature of their relationship being exposed? Others will not be as kind, and there could even be punishment ahead should the wrong eyes fall upon the truth. After all, a servant and a master have been so close, in close quarters. There is no knowing what could have happened.

- Comment with your character and preferences.
- Mention if you'd like your character to be a servant/vassal or otherwise.
- Tag others.
- Thread out forbidden affairs and one character taking care of the other.

((ooc: I always hate being the first to reply to a meme, but here goes nothing.

Yami is 100% a servant type character. She has absolute loyalty to her master and will follow nearly any order. If an order becomes too sexual or degrading she may go so far as to threaten her master or refuse the order. She would likely still stay by her master's side even if such an order was given. Her specialty is combat, so mostly a body guard role is best for her.))

[Though Ryan may have initially protested at the thought of being protected by such a young girl, now that he's getting used to having her around, he can't help but agree with Griffith's assessment: he really is more comfortable with someone like her over a traditionally burly bodyguard. Her physical presence isn't nearly as intrusive, and though he's still a little anxious at times simply because he doesn't know how to live with someone else, he's starting to relax.

When Yami isn't actually being forced to do her job, that is.

It seemed like everything was going according to plan. They made it safely to Canada without incident, but before they reached the safe house, they were ambushed. If not for the fact that their assailants were intent on taking Ryan alive, he may not have survived. As it is, he was simply helpless, forced to watch Yami fight on her own since he can't. Thankfully, they managed to get back into the car once she downed all the enemies, and not too long later, they're pulling in to the garage of the safe house Ryan's been instructed to wait in.]

Don't move, [he says, glancing over at her anxiously. It's difficult to estimate the extent of her injuries since she keeps such a stoic expression, but he knows she's not unscathed.] There's an emergency medical kit in the trunk. I'll open the door on your side and assess your wounds here.

[Yami was quite experienced when it came to killing people, but keeping them alive was something she struggled a bit more with. When the two of them were ambushed, Yami was a blur of motion, two of the kidnappers going down before any of them could react. Unfortunately she hadn't anticipated they'd ignore the deadly girl stabbing their buddies and rush right for Ryan. She was forced to intercept, and that was when she took several bullets. Any normal human being would have simply died, but she was far from normal. That didn't mean she wasn't hurt, but she was cursing herself more for how careless she'd been.

What happened next was... bloody... she ordered Ryan to duck, and spun 360, decapitating everyone within range of her deadly attack. She hadn't wanted to resort to killing them, but they were the ones who started it by pumping her full of lead. By the way she limped back to the car and the way she winced every sharp turn the car took before they arrived at the safe house, it was clear she wasn't feeling optimal.]

You're... worrying over nothing. I very much doubt there's much you can do for me with that medical kit of yours. My body is quite different than most people's.

[She could be rather stubborn at times when it came to receiving help, but he'd no doubt heard the gunshots if nothing else.]

(Ooc: Sorry this took so long. I was struggling to figure out some of the finer details. Originally I was writing up sort of a chase scene where Yami crashes through a window to escape with him to the car, but then I noticed you'd said back to the car. So then I was writing another elaborate scenario where they'd gotten off a train they'd switched to, to travel incognito so I could still use the crashing through the window to escape plan... but then I re-read and realized you said she'd taken down all their pursuers, so I have this tag now. Hopefully it works for you ^^; )

[Giving orders isn't something he particularly likes doing, but if it's for safety's sake, he will. It's not something he does often — if there's something particularly hazardous in the lab he'll order her to steer clear, just as he'll order her to not interact with colleagues of his that he catches leering at her. He'd prefer having something like a partnership with someone he has to spend so much time with.

Ryan climbs out of the car, popping the trunk to retrieve the kit. It's actually fairly comprehensive, which isn't a surprise when taking his skill set and his paranoia into account. He then steps around and opens the car door on the passenger side, reaching in to carefully lean her seat all the way back.]

( Perhaps it was a position more intimate and vulnerable than Rin had allowed him to see before. Not for any real desire to see her in her nudity, no, but he was-- for better or worse, the only one who could help her while she was in such a state. It would be problematic for an enemy master to see her injured, and while she had called a ceasefire with the Emiya boy, he wouldn't dare trust his servant not to act-- be it on his own terms or not.

He removes the bloodied towel from a particularly deep wound upon her shoulder, discarding it for now as he reaches over for the medical kit, making to remove the sterile needle from its packaging. He'd have to stitch her up, and while he's prepared for however Rin might react to the pain he'd have to inflict upon her, how seriously she'd take her own injuries was less certain. )

I advise you brace yourself, Master.

( It's the only warning he's giving her, so she could hardly claim he didn't try to prepare her for this entivability. )

[These days, Scorpius spends most of his time in his study, buried in all the books about magical bindings and curses that he can get his hands on. Which is quite a lot, as it turns out, including tomes only available in the family library. But he's gotten a lot closer in the past year-- all the time he'd once had to dedicate to his schooling had been freed up, after all.

The words on the page are starting to blur and he can't make his eyes focus right on them, so that's probably a sign to take a break. He stands up from his desk and stretches with a groan, wondering what Alucard has gotten up to while he was inundated in his research.

His stomach leads him to the kitchen, mind still half on the page of notes he'd left on the desk. He's getting really close to figuring out, he can feel it.]

[ for a covetous, gluttonous creature like alucard, he has surprisingly few vices. too much blood, too much wine, too much sleep, and little else. still, it's nice to be allowed out of the basement, to be given his own space, his own time, and he--

scorpius is a perfect master, really, a palate cleanser after his nasty great-grandfather, and naturally they've been inseparable since scorpius woke him up. it's been a decade since then, and for all appearances, alucard's devotion is all-consuming, all-encompassing.

it's all a sham, naturally, to get on his master's good side, to make his own life better, to get himself free. it had been remarkably easy to convince scorpius of his loyalty, his steadfastness, and he'd played with it from there.

and so, just a few short years later, his master is working to free him so dutifully, to have them be equals. which is, naturally, a mistake, but alucard encourages it, goads him on, makes twisted promises he knows he'll never keep.

he's lounging in the sitting room lazily while scorpius works, a spoiled pet to the core, and only gets up when he hears him moving to the kitchen. getting up is easy, as is trailing after him, as is looming silently behind him to lean over his shoulder, lips nearly touching his ear as he speaks. ]

You're up late again, master. You should rest more.

[ this is a ploy too, a practiced kindness, pretending to worry. it works, though, so he continues it. ]

[As usual, Scorpius doesn't hear Alucard coming, feeling his presence behind him only a moment before that low voice, as familiar as his own, murmurs in his ear. He flushes, a shiver running down his spine, all thoughts of his research scattering like leaves in the wind.

A different sort of hunger grew in the pit of his stomach. It feels wrong to have this attraction towards the vampire-- he's been in Scorpius' life since he was a child, for one, and his being Alucard's master for another. But he can't help being drawn in. Alucard was his first friend, they'd barely had a moment apart since he'd stumbled across him in childish "expeditions" into parts of his family manor's basements that he technically hadn't been allowed to go in.

But, well, he was an adult now. Capable of making his own decisions. Alucard knows Scorpius already thinks of him as an equal, even though the work to make him such isn't yet finished. So... maybe it isn't so terrible, to respond to his advances.

He just hasn't gathered enough courage to until now.]

I'm taking a break now, aren't I? [He smiles, speaking in between bites of strawberry.] You know how I get when I'm so close to figuring something out!
