[ Link has certainly chosen an especially difficult one- not because he has no examples, but because it's painful to admit that he does. Not a huge amount, mind you. Arms crossed, he takes some time to scowl as he puts his thoughts into order before finally, with a suffering sigh that says 'I hate you, so much' without a word, he goes into the story. ]

When I was but a child in the desert the years had been exceedingly unkind, even for the arid land I was born to rule, with the winds still as death. No rain clouds were blown to us, not a single breeze cooled our brows. What little water we had was reserved for the children and when that too began to run out, it was only right I would receive what was left.

But no who has felt the claws of thirst dragging you to the underworld cannot share the pain of another undergoing the same.

[ Ganondorf snorts, clearly annoyed to have to share that. His childish wish for lush lands ceased to be his guiding motivation long ago and it makes his skin crawl to remember. ]

[ Ganon has many reasons to hate Link. This is likely among the lowest so the hero isn't too disturbed by the sigh.

He doesn't expect such an answer. To think of a child going without water makes something inside of him ache. Link has only known what it's like to go without resources after his adventures began, and he was no child. ]

Then why would you fight for power instead of them?

I sought power suitable for the world's ruler for that end itself- but as I fought and sacrificed, I saw even my own people were untrustworthy.

[ More like Nabooru realised he was all kinds of insane and evil and tried leading her people away from him, which is clearly an unforgivable sin. ]

I have no need for those that do not bow before me. Those on bended knee may drink their fill.

They couldn't follow you because they didn't believe in the world you tried to create. Your world is full of destruction and destroys people who don't want to fight.
