THE ENDLESS BALL PIT MEME



-Post with your character listing their name, canon, and any preferences you might have in the subject line.
-Please include a little set up for what they're doing as well.
-Your character finds themselves in a massive ball pit. It stretches as far as the eye can see, has different depths in different spots, and there doesn't seem to be an exit in sight. Oops. At least its all clean in there.
-Go tag others.
-Have fun surrounded by a bunch of multicolored plastic balls. Play around, search for the exit, have a fight. Whatever you two feel like getting up to.

What else can a man say after getting plucked from the pleasantly harsh winter of Regna Ferox to find himself buried up to the shins—and rapidly sinking into—a giant pit of colorful balls? All he can think of is, Lissa, if this is another one of your japes— but what comes out is a slightly more panicked, “My sword!” followed by a frantic grasping at his hips.

“Where is my sword?” Likely as not, it’s already been swallowed up—blade, sheath, and all—into the roiling, candy-colored abyss which is also threatening to swallow the both of you whole.

ii. For women only (see why)
“Grab my hand—but keep. Your. Distance.”

You might notice that that outstretched hand is connected to someone deeply red in the face and just sort of leaning away from you, as if he can’t quite stand to breathe the same air as you. And maybe it’s not the most welcoming offer for help, but he looks reasonably steady—and you do need to come up for air, don’t you?—so you are perfectly free to give him a scolding for his poor manners once this adventure is over.

Because he sure wishes it were over already.

On the other hand, she's not sure why it's so hard to navigate to the surface of the ballpit when there are so many balls! So the hand coming for her, even if he's embarrassed (in fear?) she can't help but take it, keeping her hold gentle.

"My apologies! But thank you, truly."

He’s not spending an extra hour in there, dammit.

“J—Just keep still while I—” Hrrgh, he’s trembling. He’s absolutely trembling. In fact, there might be a danger of his accidentally letting go if she doesn’t give him a hard enough squeeze heh.

She flails, trying to regain her composure in this awkward orb pit. What in Naga's name is this? With an undignified kick, she tries to turn herself over so she can at least get her feet onto solid ground again. That is, if there is any solid ground. When a hand reaches out to her, she heeds the request.

"Understood," She says with utmost seriousness and reaches to take his hand firmly, "You have my gratitude, Lon'qu."

“Don’t—”Maybe he should keep a tighter grip on her, because he’s starting to feel her slip away despite her best efforts, oh gods. Is it his sweaty palms? It’s probably his sweaty palms. Damn it this is not the time to be thinking about his sweaty palms!!

“Just a little more…” He’s trying to give himself a pep talk here as he attempts to hoist her up, except he yanks a little too hard and loses his grip on her. Whoops.

Drowning in plastic balls is not how Yuna ever expected to go and yet here she is. She's learning how to swim but none of the tricks work here. So while she wants to avoid causing this stranger any more discomfort, a final terrifying dip downwards finally has her grasping for that outstretched hand tightly.

"I- sorry! Thank you," she gasps apologetically, still desperately trying to find any kind of footing.

It’s hard not to feel a pang of guilt at that. Her apology makes him think she’s reluctant to accept his help—and why shouldn’t she be?

He takes a deep breath, silently returning that apology with a squeeze of his hand. “I’ll make this quick.”

Not quite words he’d want to tell a lady under any circumstances, but…with a heave-ho, he manages to pull her up—just enough to breach the surface. It’s still kind of a long way to safety, but it is something!

Suddenly there's a small eruption of balls at Lon'qu's side, followed by the beaming face of Morgan. Just his face, because the rest of him is firmly buried, but he doesn't seem too worried about it. "Father!" he greets cheerfully with his usual personal cocktail of calm enthusiasm. "Fancy seeing you here. I was waiting to see if Mother would come by, but you're second best! Er, second-first best. You know what I mean. Anyway, I'm glad you came, because it was starting to get a little stale down there..."

His head swivels left and right to check the area around them. "You haven't seen Mother around, have you?"

[ If anyone expected Gwen to sit back and let Peter jump in without her, they obviously haven't been paying attention. After a run up, her feet leave the ground in a graceful jump before she brings her feet together and lands in the ball pit near Peter.


They don't exactly get many opportunities to just be the teenagers they are, so she's going to enjoy this while she can.

She sinks in about mid-chest deep, a grin on her face as she turns to see where Peter landed. ]

I haven't been in one of these since my baby brothers third birthday.
