REINCARNATION MEME

You go into a new class and you could swear you've seen your classmate before but you've never met them. You pass a bakery and the scent evokes something in you that you can't quite place. You have memories that you shouldn't have of a life you didn't live. But what if you had? What if those memories were real? Someone you meet on the street may have been your friend, family, lover. When you see them, will you remember? Will it take time for the memories to filter back or will they strike you all at once? Do you even want to remember? How are you going to deal with past joys, traumas, passions, hurts? Do you remember how you died? Does it haunt you at night? Are your relationship dynamics changed? How are you going to navigate this new life?

[ she leans her spine against the kitchen counter, bracing herself for the fallout of what comes next. planting her feet beneath her. ]

I'll give you the time of day, Mordred. Thirty-six hours,

[ moiralyn explains, before she takes another sip from her mug, watching him from over the rim. ]

You like the tea, right? Settles nicely, makes you feel warm, sure in your boots, maybe even like you could... shield and be shielded. [ she sets her mug down, tilting her head just slightly as she narrows her focus on him. something about the clench of her jaw says she regrets to do this, but it's necessary. ] I call it talisman tea. I bred it. The leaves are loyal to me. It protects me.

[ she folds her arms. ]

You'll want to protect me for the next thirty-six hours. [ teeth dig into the insides of dry lips. ] Your promises are nice, and I want to learn about this book, but we're gonna do this my way first.

[The first look that crosses Mordred's face then might have been the same if she'd just admitted to poisoning him. He lowers the mug from his mouth, staring down at the liquid within as if he could discern the magical properties that way alone, or perhaps reverse it out of sheer willpower. Slowly, inevitably, his expression darkens, and the line of his jaw goes tense. Whitening.

He sets the mug down on the counter, with deceptive delicacy.

Anger clouds his judgment from how impressed he could be - would be, perhaps, or will be, when his indignation fades. But why should she trust him? No one else does. She has every reason not to, doesn't she.]

I might not have noticed, if you hadn't said anything.

[Don't let the even tone of voice fool you. It's his deepest instinct to be outraged - and if she wants to chalk it up to the tea leaves keeping him from a stronger reaction, he couldn't have argued well otherwise.

The fact that he truly doesn't want to hurt her is no better than words, after all.]

[He's all ready kind of been reincarnated once before.]

[He's not super comfortable with humans, so the drama potential from having a dear friend or soulmate reincarnated as a human is excellent, just sayin'.]
