ways to show affection

When it comes to the way affection is shown, everyone has a different way they go about it. That means that there's a pretty good chance, with regards to couples, you could end up with two people who have two varying approaches towards how they prove they care...sometimes radically varying, which can lead to more than a little confusion or hurt feelings if there's not proper communication. But when both people are on the same page, they can tell each other how they feel with few words.

[Hi. This is a weird one. But you know, hammer to reactor might cause some issues/feelings/whatever you’d call them. Game?]

Despite their very best efforts, Loki is just gone. Tony is angry about that, not that he's gone so far to blame himself for his reactor suddenly malfunctioning, let's not be ridiculous, but because there's no justice for the guy that brought so much destruction down on his city. Tony is angry about all of the damage, all of the questions left without answers, and at how they're all just sitting around blinking at one another over a meal of much too salty meat and oil lathered bread.

Tony is antsy. He feels like there's lightning in his veins (a euphemism, of course). Sitting still doesn't seem like an option. And yet, here they are. Banner is eating anything that isn't spoken for. Rogers is half snoozing, muttering something about what or whoever a 'Bucky' is. The two assassins are sharing furtive glances with each other (Tony assumes they're trying to figure out where they can slip away to for a little post-adrenaline nooky).

And Thor--

Tony has been watching Thor for the last few minutes. Staring at him. He doesn't like it. It's making him even more annoyed by the second. He's not yet figured out that he's experiencing a sort of emotional feedback loop, that whatever Thor had done when he struck him in the chest with Mjolnir has left Tony with a little problem no one had ever had to worry about before.

"So we're just hanging out now? Letting it all go? Cool. Let's just have lunch while Thor's murderous adopted brother runs free."

"Wild? No. A chase? Uh, yeah? Don't you think that's exactly what we should be doing?" All of that amped up energy has Tony rising to his feet. He just needs to move. He needs to do something, and it's not eating.

Besides, Banner's already gotten to his schwarma and the sandwich is halfway down his gullet. So much for that one.

"You know him, right? Spent a few thousand years playing dollies? Where would he go? Scraping up a new army to get back at you for pulling his hair as teenagers?"

How can Thor be so calm? The better question is actually how can Tony be so animated, however, but none of the people here know him all that well, save for Natasha Romanoff. She knows everyone pretty well, though, as much as files will tell her, but Stark was a man she'd spent some time with and even at his worst, he had never been like this. Her lips pucker slightly, but Tony isn't looking at her. He's not looking at anyone that isn't tall, blond, and sporting an interesting blend of accents.

"A wormhole?" Tony almost throws his hands up like a child who was just told that all of the chocolate chip cookies are gone and he'll have to have his milk without anything to dip into it. His hand falls to his chest, to the abnormally bright light glowing through his shirt, and his fingers lightly tug at the edges of the reactor.

Not that it will help anything.

The only thing that does actually help is that Thor's calmness is finally trickling through to him. That, and the desire to have something to eat. He plops back into his chair, which startles Rogers into full wakefulness. Tony ignores him. "Like that thing we just closed? That I fell through?"

"Asgard? Yeah, Asgard is doing such a great job right now of handling this situation. Especially Asgard's MVP." The venom just isn't in Tony's voice, though he forces some of the vitriol out so that he has something to say. There's a lot clouding his system right now. "Oh right. You're stuck here aren't you?"

He can't help but make a finger gun in Thor's direction, eyes locked to cornflower blue.

"Your little brother skipped out with your way home." He's trying to pick a fight now, he realizes that. It's better to be annoyed than really sit back and try to figure out what's currently going wrong in his hardware.

Tony's elated for three point five seconds. Getting a rise out of Thor had been exhilarating at first, though now he can't help but feel down and out. Thor is sulking and he feels like sulking too. It's a terrible thing, being a genius. He sees patterns before most people do, but he's also good at kidding himself. It'd be ridiculous to think that he's feeding emotionally from Thor. There's no logical, scientific way for that to happen.

Wormholes, aliens, gods-- Everything that's happened in the last forty-eight hours has been crazy, but anything more than that would just be insane. And Tony is not insane.

And yet, fifteen minutes later, Tony manages to make a beeline straight to wherever Thor's gotten to. He just knows where he is. In his mind, he assumes that's because there's not a lot of places for him to be when the streets are mostly blood and rubble.

"Hey, Point Break. Don't pout. We'll get you home."

[He willingly shares food with people he really likes, and treats them like furniture. What a wonderful boon to have: a human cat.]
