the rescue meme.

the rescue meme

'Cause sometimes you just can’t save yourself.

→ Post with your character’s name, canon, and any preferences in the subject line
→ Those tagging, go to RNG and roll for a number between one and ten.
→ Alternatively, just pick the choice you’re interested in most.

1. BAD DATE - You get a text, a phone call, or maybe you can just see the other person floundering on what clearly must be the worst date of their life. Time to step in and save the day.

2. PRISON - Maybe they've been wrongly convicted, or maybe you're an accomplice. Either way, it's jailbreak time. Maybe the guards will fall for the old 'wounded prisoner' technique.

3. TAKEN HOSTAGE - They're being held at gunpoint, either for money or for fun. Maybe you can talk down their captors — or maybe you are a captor, secretly working to help them.

4. UNWELL - Your body is damaged, your suffering taken its toll. You can't save yourself anymore. You're wounded, you're starving, maybe even dying. Someone, help!

5. YOURSELF - One bad choice after another, your self-destructive tendencies are going to get the best of you unless someone steps in to save the day.

6. BIG DAMN RESCUE - You're hovering over an active volcano, a pit of sharks, about to fall off a cliff. Whatever it is, you've only got precious seconds of life left.

7. LONELINESS - You've been secluded, locked away, and the emptiness is overwhelming. You need company, or you might just drown.

8. UNWANTED SOCIAL FUNCTION - A family reunion, your three o'clock board meeting, whatever it is, you desperately don't want to go. Hopefully your good buddy can come up with a distraction.

9. BAD ROMANCE - You're trapped in a relationship that's headed south. Maybe it's an arranged marriage, or maybe it's just someone who won't take no for an answer. You need a helping hand, maybe even a Prince(ss) Charming.

10. WILDCARD - Any kind of rescue will do! Spread your creative wings and go for it.

[ May? He stores the name away for later, making a mental note to see if he can help the lady out as he is aware that rent in New York is extremely high at this point in time. ]

She sure is.

[ He states proudly, grinning from ear to ear. ]

Peter Parker-or Spider-Man. [ quickly amends. ] Welcome aboard the TARDIS.

[ He gently pushes his way over to the console and leans against it, the TARDIS humming in greeting. ]

That's Time and Relative Dimensions in Space.

So you were really serious? Do you get how big of a deal this is?! What it could mean?! If time and space have things running parallel instead of being singular... And you can just jump between them?! How? Are there coordinates we haven't figure out? Like, some kind of code written into each moment of time?

[ Peter's too excited to remember why they came here. ]

You're very quick.

[ The Doctor states, standing up straight again and motioning for Peter to step further into the TARDIS. ]

Yes. Essentially-actually-Yes. Coordinates meshed with what's referred to as the base code of the universe. Which is really a rubbish name for it since that's not really what it is-but that's what the Time Agents all called-will call it-do call it.

You said some people had to go back in time to fix things-they must have figured it out.

Anyways. There are rules to time travel though-the biggest one is probably one you'd expect but- you can't change your own timeline and the other is what I mentioned before-no messing with fixed points-this is important because now that we know about the missing people whatever happened to them is fixed-it has to happen.

[ He turns to the console and sets about pressing buttons and setting coordinates. ]

However, we can make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else.

It's not really that impressive. I mean, if you have a vehicle, time is treated like a 'where' instead of a 'when', so it has to have something to mark it, if you're going to travel to that point.

[ He really does want to know about everything inside, but reality comes crashing down. ]

So, you're saying if we find them before they go missing, we can't do anything to change it? [ Suddenly, the hyper boy is very subdued. ] I... I don't think I can do that. If you have the power to stop it, and you don't, you're part of it.
usernamesarecool: (Don't step in that. Not cool)

[ The Doctor smiles a bit-still messing with the console and ready to start explaining. There's fewer things in life that he enjoys more than talking and explaining everything he knows. ]

[ He stops though as he notices the teenagers mood changes and steps away from the controls and a little closer to the boy. ]

Well... yes. But I wouldn't really say I have the power to stop it-if I do then I'll create a paradox and a big enough one will just blow a hole in the universe. It's rough sometimes-believe me, I know and time travel-well it can be a bit much.

However! We're in a very unique position because I think you've forgotten something very important.

[ He moves back to the controls and flips a switch so that whole ship jerks suddenly and an loud vorping noise starts up. ]

-Missing doesn't have to mean dead.

[Peter falls off balance, but he catches himself so quickly that it doesn't seem human. Being Spider-Man comes with some very unique abilities. Still, even if the Doctor reassures him, it sits uneasily in his stomach. ]

Yeah, but what if they are? What if these people were killed? We're supposed to think it's okay to sacrifice them?

[ It's impossible to see Peter's frown behind the mask, but it carries over into his voice as he approaches the Doctor. ]

Sir, there'd have to be some other way. I don't want to sacrifice anybody.
