Uptown girl, she's been living in her white bread world
![]() You know the story. It's a love story. Our lovers are from different worlds — one wealthy, one not. The poor girl has fallen in love with the Gentleman Snarker, or the Unlucky Everydude secretly courts the daughter of the richest man in town. And she loves him too. Maybe it was Love at First Sight. Maybe she has a habit of slipping out to the seedier side of town for a night of fun. Maybe they've been friends their whole lives and the difference in status never really mattered. Will their love be enough to let them be happy together? Note that the roles aren't locked by gender: a working-class girl who loves a rich boy also fits this trope, as do two lovers of the same gender. How To Play - Comment with your character, putting the standard information somewhere in it. You also may want to specify your preferences or where your character would fall on the spectrum. - Tag others! Feel free to use the RNG. - Have fun and be respectful to others. Prompts

She'd never really had any sort of friend. The entire court was wary of her father (and most were snide little favor-seekers regardless), the peasantry far too busy tending the rich fields and herds throughout the small but but prosperous kingdom, and the suitors who kept flocking to the King's door were interested in one thing and one thing only. And she despised each and every one of them.
Thus the Princess of Carhaise had taken to "escaping" as often as she could - Leodegrance cared not a whit for his daughter's whereabouts, only her virtue and what political clout he might gain in selling it - and she'd long ago learned how to evade her septas and other tutors when lessons became too cloying. She loved animals, however, horses especially, therefore the stables had quickly become her refuge.
She often hid away in one of the stalls, having no fear of the large beasts; she'd learned early on how to ride and to handle such magnificent creatures, and they were a calm presence for Guinevere's often turbulent moods. She'd also spied an unfamiliar face amid the lads working in the expansive stables and the smithy; one of Torgun's new men, she supposed; the head smith always started the new ones making horseshoes, until he was satisfied with their skill.
Sneaking out to the stables just after luncheon, Guinevere spied Old Beamon in the cross-ties, presumably having his hooves trimmed and fitted. The big horse stood patiently, whooshing his breath every now and then, and the princess smiled as she patted the roan's nose, craning her neck to get a glimpse of the man bent over a back hoof, fitting a shoe.
"Hello," she called in a quiet voice, as not to startle the horse. "You're new to Carhaise, are you not?"
