[He doesn't mind the fact that they're not really dancing anymore until Spock whispers his name (his name, not his title) and freezes up. Something always shoots through Jim's veins when Spock uses his name, though it's definitely never been whispered like that before.

He draws back enough to be able to look at Spock, concern and curiosity written all over his face.] Spock?

[spohkh]

I... I apologise Captain. [Spock does not meet his Captain's questioning gaze...

He starts to back away from the embrace, his face flushed green.]

[Jim doesn't let Spock back up -- or at least he tries not to let him, locking his arms around his shoulders.] Spock, wait.

[spohkh]

[Spock stops his retreat...

His expression is slightly confused... and anxious. He was waiting for his Captain to berate him for his actions.]

What-- [He has to pause to lick suddenly dry lips.] What's up? I mean... [How is it he can smoothly negotiate Federation terms and yet Spock always manages to trip him up?] Did I do something wrong?

[spohkh]

[Spock's eyebrows crease...but his eyes manage to track that enticing tongue...] ....I was under the impression that I had done something wrong Captain...

[Jim shakes his head.] No. I don't think you're capable of doing something wrong, Spock, and not just because you're Vulcan. [There's a wry twist of his lips.] But you froze up so I figured it was something I did.

[spohkh]

[Spock's expression turns into one that hints wonderment... and curiosity. Always curiosity.

That's when he analyses the situation... They are close, very close in proximity... Jim chose to dance with him rather than another female...

What was this implying? He did not want to risk their current relationship on a whim.
Spock shakes his head.]
Negative Captain... you have done nothing wrong.

[Spock hesitates...] This dance... may mean more to me than it does for you...

[He stares at Spock for a moment processing. The Vulcan's meaning dawns on him and he blinks, a strange tension seeming to string his body in place.] Oh. You mean... emotional meaning.

[This is dangerous territory. He can't seem to make himself move away from Spock, though.]

[spohkh]

[Spock pulls away from his Captain... afraid of the rejection.

He stands by the balcony, hands clasped behind his back, staring at the stars once more.]

My apologies Captain. If it is your desire, we can go on has we have and we do not have to mention this dance ever happened. [Because he cannot do this you see... he has feelings for his Captain.]

[thetisfortenacious]

[Jim lets his arms drop, frowning after Spock as he withdraws.] That's not my desire. [He feels like something is slipping away, something that will be gone forever if he doesn't act, so he steps forward and grabs Spock's shoulder to turn him.] If we don't go on as we have, how else do we go?

[spohkh]

[He is surprised by the contact, but he tentatively faces Jim when he is turned.
Spock's eyes are once again expressing sadness as he looks at his Captain...]

That is entirely up to you Captain.

I don't think it is, Spock. I think this is something we need to figure out together. [He steps closer, fingers flexing against the material of Spock's dress uniform.]

[spohkh]

[Spock places his hand on top of Jim's... and studies his Captain's face....]

If I am wrong, then I do not wish to jeopardize our working relationship.

[Jim frowns slightly.] Do you really think anything could jeopardize our working relationship after how rocky a start we got?

[Spock tightens his grip on Jim's hand..]

Do you know why I ended my relationship with Lieutenant Uhura?

[He glances down at their hands, takes a moment to consider.] No. There were rumors, speculations, but I didn't put much stock in them.

[spohkh]

[Spock rubs a thumb across Jim's knuckles... reveling in the contact.] I ended our relationship because I was in love with another...

...I see. [Anxious energy makes Jim shift his weight, heart suddenly pounding against his ribcage.] So, this other person... [He makes himself meet Spock's gaze.]

[spohkh]

[Spock inhales, as though gathering strength...]

...is my Captain.

[Something like heat and electricity shivers through him, shooting down his spine. It's similar to an adrenaline rush but without the pressing danger.] You're... in love with me.

[He doesn't think, just acts, leaning in to press his mouth firmly against Spock's.]

[Spock is shocked at the press of lips to his own.... but he quickly recovers.
Wrapping his arms around Jim, he presses into the kiss...

This is more than he could ever imagine.]

[It's too easy to get lost in the embrace and he bites at Spock's bottom lip. He has to pull back a moment later to breathe, though.] You should say it again.

[Spock's head follows Jim's when he pulls away... but he manages to refrain and open his eyes.]

I... I love you.. Jim...

[Spock said Jim's name with wonderment...]

[Those words are like a hit to Jim's system, the perfect drug. He recaptures Spock's mouth, pushing him back against the railing of the balcony.]
