Did you know some people call this a "harvest moon"? It hangs lower in the sky than other moons. It appears to be red because the light passes through a greater amount of atmospheric particles than when the moon is overhead. That's why it seems bigger too. "The moon illusion." The brain perceives a low hanging moon to be larger than a higher moon.
