[Saya's eyes are locked on the sky, narrowed with intense, straining focus. After a few minutes, she sags against him, still looking up but far less determinedly.] I can't believe I forgot.

Don't be; I'll grant all your wishes. [ he laughed softly then, twisting to watch her gaze at the stars. He didn't need a meteor to wish on; he had everything he desired right here. He had Saya. ]

[For a second she tries to keep pouting, not smile -- but her attempt is laughable, and soon abandoned in favor of nudging him with her shoulder.] You don't know all my wishes.

[bottomless_pit]

[ he just watched her, gazing at her with an unbroken sincerity even as he gently gave against her nudge ] Then I'll discover them. [ one by one, bit by bit. He's promised her a life time. ]

[sangreine]

[She doesn't have a lifetime to give him, but they can pretend. Just for now, with her leaning on his shoulder like they have all the time in the world.] How will you do that?

Little by little, I just will. [ he trails a hand up her arm, reminding himself that the meteor that flashed across the sky again was not a dead comrade, another fallen contractor. The stars didn't work that way here, in this world. ]

[She shivers pleasantly at his touch, but isn't about to succumb to whatever he's after so easily. Her wishes are simple but she holds them close, always protective.] What about your wishes?

I have it already. [ the stars, the moon, a quiet moment to rest. Saya. What more could he wish?


Unless it was Pai, but she was long since gone from this world. ]

[She looks at him incredulously for a long beat before her expression softens. Only from his mouth could she possibly believe something like that.]

[She leans over to kiss the corner of his mouth, as a thank you.]

[ he turns his face, meeting her lips head on, so soft, so plush. He cupped her cheek as another meteor fell: a promise, a wish, that she would never change. Even if she did fall asleep and awake again, he wanted this for her.

She deserved peace and kindness. ]

[And he deserves her kiss in return, gentle but far from hesitant. She held herself back too long, made him pass test after test, and there are still more to come.]

[But for now she'll kiss him, arms draping around his shoulders, and not think about it.]
