... and then it hits you: none of this is real. You're dreaming. You've been dreaming all along.

Maybe you'd normally wake up now. The brain is a funny thing, though, and you can't seem to. Must be something you ate. You do, however, realize that you're in a dream - and in dream, you can do anything. Always wanted to dream about flying? It's your lucky night. Want to dream back a lost childhood home? It's there just as you remember, or perhaps imagine it. Been fantasizing about that one cute co-worker for weeks? Well then.

There's only one problem. There seems to be someone else in your dreamscape, and they can apparently control it just as easily as you can. They even have the audacity to claim that they are dreaming you!


All the usual:

• Post with your character's name and canon in the subject line.
• Said character is having a lucid dream, where since they know they are dreaming, they can do literally anything. Fun!
• ... except that the character that comments on your thread is also in the same dream and just as lucid. Both characters can affect the world around them, but not each other.
• Both characters are the "original" dreamer from their perspective, and neither is stronger than the other. Conflicting changes to the environment simply overwrite each other in a loop until one character or the other gives up.
• The setup of this meme is built to facilitate cross-canon interaction: it's probably a good idea to state in your subject line whether you're open to it.
• Tag around and play nice!

[Oh. An Animagi? Or just a very shapechanging sort of dreamer? Possibly both, but no need to discount a good guess just yet. He glances warily at the ceiling as it fades up, gaining a few arches and vaults as it goes, before shifting his gaze back to-- well. Whoever or whatever he was.]

It was before you barged in.

I didn't mean to.

[-- which isn't an apology. He glances around, the smile comes easy. Oh, notice the green tie, the school uniform? Looks familiar yeah?]

Nice office though.

[prefection]

Oh? And what did you mean?

[He's so used to non-apologies by now he just files this one away. He notices the tie, at least.]

Thank you. It's quite fetching, if I do say so myself. [And he does. Often.]

I was in my own. Don't really stumble into other people's on a regular basis. It was an accident, if you can believe it.

[It shows, a little, and there's the barest smirk on his face. Not really arbitrarily he walks over to the awards and commendations. He's curious.]

Are you redecorating?

[prefection]

[...Fine.] Just don't let your accident become a habit. I'd hate trying to figure out how to deduct points from a dream. [Could get rather messy.]

A bit, yes. Places like this need a little reorganizing every now and then, before they get overgrown.

[Most of the awards are ones he hasn't gotten. Yet. Same for the commendations, the pins, the little newspaper clippings. Only the prefect and head boy badges are real, besides the pictures of the family that... show up, every now and then.]

You'd deduct points from my house, [For the record, the tie is now blue,] over stumbling into your dream?

[A chuckle. He sounds calm, unconcerned. Occasionally, there are awards of his own now, as well. Similar to Percy's, they're things he's aiming for, not things he's already achieved.]

[prefection]

In principle, yes. [Not actual points. Dream points. Don't ask him how it works, he hasn't a clue.] You do know changing your tie color won't help you? Just thought I should point that out.

[Only a slytherin'd bother.]

[He looks over to Percy. Down at his tie. Like he didn't do it intentionally - goes from Gryffindor red-and-gold to plain black and unassuming.]

You're biased. [But he smiles.]

[prefection]

Just a tad. [pish posh.] Can you really blame me?

[Well, yes, he could, but does he want to, is the question.]

[somegomad]

I could, in theory. [No, he doesn't want to.]

[prefection]

Not worth putting into practice. [He figured.]

[somegomad]

[A shrug.]

Not really. I don't believe in prejudice one way or another.

[prefection]

I don't have much patience for it, myself. [Yes that's two I thoughts in one sentence.]

[somegomad]

It only makes things more difficult for everyone in the end.

So these are what you're aiming for? [He gestures at the awards. Of course they're in flux, but for the most part it's the outer areas of the room changing, the walls, the view, but he doesn't mess with Percy's things. If anything, he clearly thinks... bigger.]

[prefection]

A few missing pieces, but on the whole, yes, exactly.

[It's not the awards so much as what the represent. Recognition. Noticed. Appreciated. Rewarded. Maybe the size of the prize is smaller, but the quality of it fills the dreamy air.]

[somegomad]

[His smile broadens. The room brightens a little, too, like the weather's good outside, and you're in a building so high that it's never in the shade. Koschei's gotten better at reading between the lines and understanding the meanings of things.]

Yeah, I can relate. So you're Percy Weasley. Ah, Koschei Maslov.

[Offering his hand - from across the room? No, he's right there, this being dream logic.]
