Poe had known, even as he'd set the fighter down that that dogfight had been a much closer call than any of them would have liked, and that they'd probably have to relocate again soon.

Granted, they'd still taken down all of the TIEs that had arrived, and Communications hadn't caught any outgoing calls, but that didn't mean there hadn't been, and besides that, it wasn't like the First Order wouldn't know to start looking if a wing of fighters didn't come back from patrol.

He also knew that most of them were just hoping that other similar wings of long-range, special-forces TIEs had been dispatched and more than one of them wouldn't be making it back.

All of that had been nearly an hour previously, however, and Poe was mostly just finding himself increasingly pleased that his initial response -to turn his head and kiss Finn's jaw even as Poe slung an arm around his shoulders- upon their triumphant return to the Resistance's current makeshift base had turned out quite this well.
