The Rescue Me Meme

'Cause, sometimes, you just can't save yourself.

→ Post with your character's name, canon, and any preferences in the subject line
→ Those tagging, go to RNG and roll for a number between one and ten.
→ Alternatively, just pick the choice you're interested in most.

1. A Bad Date - You get a text, a phone call, or maybe you can just see the other person floundering on what clearly must be the worst date of their life. Time to step in and save the day.

2. Prison - Maybe they've been wrongly convicted, or maybe you're an accomplice. Either way, it's jailbreak. Maybe the guards will fall for the old 'wounded prisoner' technique.

3. Taken Hostage - They're being held at gunpoint, either for money or for fun. Maybe you can talk down their captors, or maybe you are a captor, secretly working to help them.

4. Abuse/Neglect - Your body is damaged, your suffering taken it's toll. You can't save yourself anymore. You're wounded, you're starving, maybe even dying. Someone, help.

5. Addiction - Just one more. Nothing bad will happen if you just get one more. Either way, you can't save yourself from this downward spiral. Someone else is going to have to help.

6. Yourself - One bad choice after another, your self-destructive tendencies are going to get the best of you unless someone steps in, quick, to save the day.

7. Climactic Situation - You're hovering over an active volcano, a pit of sharks, about to fall off a cliff. Whatever it is, you've only got precious seconds of life left.

8. Loneliness - You've been secluded, locked away, and the emptiness is overwhelming. You need company, or you might just drown.

9. Unwanted Social Function - A family reunion, your three o'clock board meeting, whatever it is, you desperately don't want to go. Hopefully your good buddy can come up with a distraction.

10. A Bad Romance - You're trapped in a relationship that's headed south, and you can't seem to get away from the other person. Looks like you need a helping hand, maybe a prince charming.

[It's an odd thing, Thomas thinks, that he's spent his life training himself to be little more than an object, a thing to be glanced at or sometimes even remarked upon, only to be forgotten about a moment later. It's the mark of a good servant, knowing when they're needed and, equally, knowing when they're not. But, standing beside a pillar and balancing a tray of champagne, hovering just out of reach of the party, even Thomas sometimes forgets he isn't actually invisible.

He doesn't startle as strange fingers suddenly graze against his lower back but what little slouch there was in Thomas' posture - practically non-existent to begin with - disappears entirely. He stands at immediate attention, an unheard intake of breath and the stiffening of his jaw the only outward sign of his sudden discomfort and, before he can even think to squirm away, the hand strays to palm softly at the bone of his hip, holding him close. He feels a breath graze past his ear.

He's tall, then, Thomas thinks absently, if he can come anywhere close to matching Thomas' considerable height.

He doesn't even need to glance down to see for certain that it is, in fact, a man who's touching him. Thomas can already tell by the size of the hand cradling his side, the pain as the fingers from a moment ago give him a rough squeeze. Thomas clamps down on any sound that might have escaped him then, choking it back.

He won't embarrass himself in public. ]

What did you do today, Matt?

Oh, not a lot. Got kidnapped by lizard-people, you know, the usual.

Normally, Matt thinks of himself as a low kidnap risk. He has a number of tools in his arsenal for getting out of sticky situations, tools most other people don't possess. Fire is a big one! But he's also learned a pretty dope sleep spell that's good for nonviolently disabling opponents. Matt's handcuffed, but thanks to Stephen's tutelage, he doesn't need to scribble the whole thing out to cast it.

The problem is, after Matt knocks out the first two lizard-people, the other ten point their terrifying harpoon-shaped guns at him and let him know they'll kill him if he tries again. (Also, they seem impervious to fire.)

They throw Matt in the cab of a vehicle for awhile, kind of a rustic truck? And he rattles around without knowing what's going on, until they finally come to a halt and yank him out.

They're in a forest clearing. An eerie moon gleams down, its light illuminating a rough circle comprised of large rocks. Veins of some unhealthy-looking ore course through them, seeming almost to pulse in the moonlight. At the center, there's a stone altar, and that's when the lizards say something that makes Matt actually feel kinda bad for them?

In between the sibilant discussion of the something something sacrifice, he distinctly hears the word virgin.

"Oh, no," he protests.

Billy had done a lot of people watching in his time. It came with the territory when you tricked people a lot, you had to study their habits and things like that. One of his favorite things was to watch bad dates, it was like an emotional train wreck. Except for that one time where it was an actual train wreck at the park where there was a train for little kids to ride. That one had been a literal and figurative train wreck.

Point was Billy knew bad dates. He could practically spot when one of the couples was going to fake a phone call or something. He was watching a couple now at a restaurant and he was sure the lady was going to have someone call her any minute now. The ladies always had a friend that was supposed to call them partway through the date.

When the guy said "well actually" for the fourth time when trying to correct the lady that was obviously a pilot about something about planes Billy remembered that this place had really spotty cell reception so in the bar she might not be able to get a call. Which totally meant it was hero time!

Leaving his half-eaten plate of fries on the table he ducked out to the back alley, shouted the magic word, and then rushed back into the restaurant. Yeah he wasn't exactly subtle in his outfit but this was no time to worry about that. Striding over to the table Billy fixed the guy that was giving off huge dude-bro vibes with a look.

"Oh man, did you hear those dudes in the bathroom? They were talking about how they were going to social justice warrior the place up because they knew every guy here was too pussy to man up and face them. Can you believe it?"

[The armoury has never exactly been Midna's favourite place to visit. In fact, she tends to try to avoid it when at all possible. Maybe that goes hand-in-hand with attempting to avoid responsibility. Considering she has quite the history of that, it would be a very easy conclusion to come to.

Regardless, this is one visit that she can't exactly put off.

Rumours have reached her impish ears that someone wrongly imprisoned is facing a sentence that... he just frankly doesn't deserve. Hopefully he wasn't imprisoned at her behest. Midna knows she's made mistakes in the past, but the idea of condemning someone innocent just doesn't sit right with her. Not that... she'd ever say that aloud. In the same respects, she's not particularly open about why she's in the armoury either. At least, to those that likely deserve to know.

She's examining each cell and its inhabitant, trying to establish which one actually holds her quarry. She pauses at the one holding Anders and carefully keeping herself largely hidden beneath her hood, she addresses him. Trying to avoid the flickering candlelight, her gaze remains on his face for only some moments.

Surely his crime was not being a Light Dweller.]
