There's a long precedent in folklore and myth of beautiful young people - both men and women - being kidnapped by monsters: dragons, beasts, goblins, demons, elves, vampires, wolves, or even evil humans. In the end, however, these prisoners are almost always rescued and brought back to civilization to live a normal and happy life.

But what if they didn't want to leave their jailor?

They've seen behind the surface and have begun to sympathize with this "monster;" no, more than that, they've fallen for them. Will this story have a happy ending? Will the monster believe that anyone could love them? Most importantly, though, can the two of them be left alone without any attempts at a "rescue?"

Thread anything that could remotely fit under the umbrella theme. Was the kidnapping just that, or did both parties know (and care) for each other before, making it a collaborative, mutual effort? Perhaps you'd prefer to play the actual Beauty and The Beast-style getting to know each other or seeing behind the grizzly facade. What about an attempted "rescue?" Or maybe you could thread out a scene where the prisoner runs away from the society they were forced back into and returns to their beloved beast! It's all up to you. You could even do smut if you wanted to, but this isn't a smut meme.

(Is canonly a knight charged with protecting humanity from monsters, so I would LOVE to see him as the maiden after a botched slaying attempt.)

((OOC: So, funny story. In the Love Hotel (we don't need to do smut if you don't want), I actually made a starter for Genichi here that was directly based on Rayla's opening scene where Genichi took on the role of Marcos. Only instead of being killed or let go, he was kidnapped and kept safely out of the way until the assassins did what they needed to do, with the promise that as long as he behaved himself, they'd let him go once it was too late for him to sound any alarm.

Would you be interested in a scenario like that?))

[Yeah, that sounds interesting, let's try this scenario. :) /ooc]

"Nngh..." Genichi moaned as his eyes slowly fluttered open. The last thing he remembered was patrolling the forest near the castle and hearing voices. He approached in what he thought was a stealthy fashion only to see a group of Moonshadow Elves discussing something. He didn't know what they were planning but based on the weapons they were carrying, he doubted they were here for peace negotiations. He was about to head back to the palace to report this when he heft a sharp pain on the back of his head and then he succumbed to darkness.

Trying to feel his still-sore head, Genichi realized that his wrists were bound behind him, and his upper body secured to a pole inside of a large tent. His ankles were bound similarly. He wasn't gagged though, which meant that he was so deep in the woods that his captors weren't worried about alerting any of his allies. Not a great sign.

Forcing himself to keep calm, he took stock of his surroundings. His too-big armour had been piled neatly in the corner, leaving him in his underclothes. There was a bedroll in the corner, indicating this tent was one of his captors' living quarters. It wasn't what he could see that interested him though. It was what he could hear.

There was a passionate, whispered conversation happening just outside the tent, and while Genichi couldn't hear much, he could tell it was about him. He heard someone whisper something about "taking care of him", followed by someone else saying what sounded like "no unnecessary bloodshed" and "we can let him go tomorrow, we'll be done by then."

While Genichi didn't like the sound of "being done", the snippets of conversation he caught made it sound like the group was largely in favour of the "no unnecessary bloodshed" plan. Genichi heaved a sigh of relief.

Instantly the conversation ceased and Genichi could feel several pairs of eyes looking at his tent. He cursed himself for forgetting that the elves' ears weren't just for show. He heard more snippets: "He's awake," "You go in," "No, you go in." They must have made a decision because after more whispered arguing, Genichi heard silence followed by the soft sound of footsteps approaching the tent. To his surprise, a girl who looked even younger than him stepped inside the tent.

Okay, be cool Genichi. You are a knight. Show them that they don't intimidate you. Show them how calm you can be in this situation.

"Um..." he began. "Hi?"

Boom. Nailed it.

Persuading Runaan and others that killing this young human was unnecessary wasn't.... Easy, but it was manageable. Rayla even offered to kill the human if he makes any wrong move.

So. No wrong moves, check. Utter stupidity of humans, somehow, check. Incredulous, she asks,

"Hi? That's all you have to say now?"

Genichi blushed. He could actually feel his instructor at the knight academy facepalming back at the castle.

"I've... never been captured before," Genichi offered weakly. "They told us that if we do get captured that we shouldn't try and escalate the situation so... I didn't want to be rude."

He blushed again. Even he knew that was lame. "Um... would you believe this is actually my first day out of the academy?"

That was actually true. They assigned him to forest patrol on his first day because they believed it was safe and also far enough away from anything important that he couldn't screw anything up.

A novice. Not a good one at all, at that. Yes, that's not hard to believe.

Maybe it actually isn't necessary to kill him at all. He's no threat, at all, or so it seems.

And what's with the constant blushing? Do humans blush when they're deathly afraid?

"If you had ever been kidnapped before, you'd probably be dead by now."

And then Rayla adds, because she thinks she should,

"You can't stop us."

Maiden Fair: She is, in fact, a fair maiden. Also the vampire messiah. Also, occasionally quite incompetent.

Monster: She's a vampire, yo. Occasionally kidnaps people "for their own good."]

((Genichi here is a shy but earnest young man who was essentially disowned by his super-strict parents for pursuing a career they found salacious.
