Is it your blood, animal blood, the blood of someone you murdered? Hell, maybe you ran out of tampons. Anyway, no matter how it got there, you're (or someone you know is) covered in blood. Can it be explained away? If not, is someone going to prison? The hospital? Going to die of blood loss? Get in trouble for playing catch with the blood bags? Man, we don't know. [ It's not a hunt gone wrong. It's no pissed off demon, no angel with a grudge, no hungry vamp this time. Nary a witch, werewolf, shifter, or ghoul. It's a goddamn mugger that gets him, sticking him with a knife while his guard's down and snatching his wallet with all his fake credit cards and a hundred bucks in cash.

He'd have been fine, probably, if the guy'd left the knife in. Could have made it somewhere himself with the blade still plugging the wound, could have gotten back to the hotel where he's got a first aid kit, a bottle of whiskey, some dental floss. If you're desperate enough to rob someone, though, apparently you're greedy enough to want to keep your knife, too.

It means he's got a nice four or five inch wound to the gut, nice and deep, soaking through his shirt and leaving him staggering to his knees in the mouth of an alley that apparently nobody walks past at this time of night.

Can't call 911. Technically speaking, Dean Winchester's supposed to be dead. If not, he's supposed to be in chains somewhere, because the FBI absolutely hates him. His head's wrapped in cotton, throbbing, losing coherency pretty damn quick along with his blood.

( even though keisuke couldn't bring himself to attend them anymore, he knows when akira's fights are scheduled. they worm their way into the mental landscape of his weekly planning, the uneven stair-stepping of the long hours at the factory and the lean free time spent in the city or here, in the apartment building. he had known that one was today, and he had started to think that it must have gone on long, as a few hours pass after keisuke returned from work and his friend still had not.

he had gotten worried. of course he had. it almost feels like a betrayal — he knows better than anyone else that akira could take care of himself, could defend himself, but still. it was errant, uncontrolled.

so when the distant footsteps and the heavier sound of the door unlocking and beginning to open down the hall stirs him from a light sleep, he quickly rolls out of bed and moves to his own doorway, all fast enough so that he could catch his friend before he disappeared into his room.

for a half a second, keisuke's eyes go wide. he's covered in blood. his own, his opponent's — probably both. he guards his expression a moment after (though the concern is still heavy in his eyes), closing his door and jogging over so that he could get a better look. it's not the first time he's come back like this. not the fifth, not the tenth — not really a number keisuke could count. and every time he feels like he has to ask. ) Can I... help?

( because akira's the kind of guy who would just let injuries go. and keisuke's the kind of guy who would probably hurt more to see him do such a thing. )
