Maybe people just figure hundreds of years of practice at love making makes vampires really, really good at it. On the other hand, tThe bloodsucking may be a great fetish source, something about a quick sting of pain followed by pleasure. When a vampire is hungry and isn't quite so decent or hard up as to lower himself to only buying blood at the butcher's or trapping and draining small animals instead, their dietary supplement of preference is human blood. Sometimes when one wasn't looking for something, anything, that was when the unexpected appeared.

Claudia caught wind of him through one of her connections in New York's delightfully seedy underbelly. The young doctor talented enough — and respected enough — to have earned a fair bit of autonomy from those who had no qualms making demands whenever they desired. That alone intrigued her.

A few weeks of casual surveillance and that intrigue had grown to interest. He was smart, resourceful, careful; he had the air of one who was used to hiding and being mindful of his own steps. It was no wonder he was well off the radar of normal law enforcement and seen as such a valuable asset to the criminal underworld. However, the one she had assigned the task was several centuries the human's senior, and accustomed to tracking down hunters and traitors. Hiding and keeping a low profile from mortals was one thing, managing the same when dealing with a vampire was quite another. In the old days she would have done it herself but such was out of the question when she had to keep a handle on one of the busiest cities in the world. And honestly, that fact aggravated her to some degree. It was why, when she felt she had learned enough, she didn't simply have him brought to her.

No, she arranged a seemingly by-chance meeting in a nightclub he'd been seen to visit before. It wasn't vampire-run but there was familiarity with the owner and she could have it emptied if need be; a perk of her status. Of course, any pretense of it being purely chance was thrown into question once she'd drawn him away from the crowd for a private conversation.

"It's impressive, some of the acquaintances you have, but you could have even more powerful ones." she casually remarked after they had been talking a little while. Sitting in a corner booth in the upstairs lounge, her body turned toward his for easier conversation (and all the better to admire the young mortal), Claudia reached out to delicately trail a finger along the line of his neck. "You should be flattered. It takes a lot to draw my attention." Her sire would probably chuckle at that and say she was as capricious as he and sometimes all it took was a pretty face or a nice voice, and he wouldn't be wrong, but to hold and keep her attention? That did take something extra.
