Prompto still wasn't sure if joining the Crownsguard had been a good decision, or a colossally dumb one, but after high school, there weren't a ton of other options to stay close to Noct. The training kicked his ass. Sure, he was used to running a couple miles every day (or every other on a cheat week), but weapons and combat left him with bruises and aches in places he'd thought previously impossible.

It wasn't that he was complaining. The Crownsguard were treated really well, probably way better than he deserved, and the benefits were great, nevermind the fatigues were pretty cool-looking. And getting to know Iggy and Gladio better? He liked them more by the day.

Even if they were never more than best buddies, Prompto could easily see himself making the same decision to stick by Noct's side. It gave him direction, and more importantly, it felt like somewhere he belonged.

Of course, it helped that it also meant more time around Noct. And, even if their relationship was newly evolving, more time was hard to come by, and grew trickier by the day. He knew Noct had a lot of responsibilities as the future king of Lucis that had nothing to do with Prompto, that this was... foolish and couldn't last, but he couldn't help wanting what small part of Noct's heart he could have, even briefly.

He was pretty beat from the day's training exercises, towel around his neck as he meandered toward the locker rooms, but he lingered around the training hall first, sure that Noct would be done sparring with Gladio soon too.
