THE KILLER vs. COP (optionally AU) MEME


WARNING for violence, murder, triggering content.

HOW TO PLAY
- Make a note of what your character is in this AU, whether killer or cop, and what roles within those you could see them assuming.
- Let anyone know your limits!
- Tag around, pick a scenario, and go for it.

THE PLAYERS
TYPE OF KILLER
1) Assassin. You're either an assassin for hire, a professional in the arts of killing, or a politically motivated murder.
2) Serial killer. Pathologically driven with a need to trap and kill their victims.
3) Necessity. You're not a bad person! It's just that whoever your victim was had to die. In order for you to survive, or keep what's valuable to you. Could have been self-defense.
4) Passion. You were just so angry... you didn't mean to, you just loved them so much.
5) Soldier. You consider yourself fighting a war, whether it's one fought with uniforms and battle lines or one fought in the shadows. War has casualties. It's just a fact of life.
6) Accidental. They just appeared in front of your car! You couldn't hit the brakes in time.
7) Other.

TYPE OF COP
1) Local. Just a uniform working the beat, and you think you might finally have the magic case to get you up to detective.
2) Detective. Just another case in a long line of 'em.
3) Federal. FBI, or U.S. Marshal, Secret Service -- whatever the initials, you're part of your nation's law enforcement. Elite, and called in only on the most important cases.
4) Tech. Crime scene tech, or analyst. You're not technically a cop, but you're part of the case anyway.
5) Prosecutor/lawyer. Time to throw the book at the latest murderer.
6) Other.

SITUATIONS
1) Crime scene. Time to figure out the killer's MO. Just be careful the killer's not still lurking around...
2) Who, me? You don't even know it, but the killer's someone you know. Might be your partner, or your lover, or just someone you ran into. And if you're the killer, what better way to get the status of the investigation than to ask the officer?
3) Interrogation. Both of you know what really happened. But can the cop get a confession out of the killer before it's too late?
4) The arrest. Slap on the cuffs. It's a long ride to the station; conversation, anyone?
5) The chase. You have a name, and you need to find and stop them before they strike again.
6) Jailtime visits. Funny, isn't it? That killer in jail understands you, the cop, better than anyone else in your life. It's almost like you're friends.
7) Escape. Someone's out of jail...
8) Death row. Any last thoughts?
9) Trial. What's the verdict? What's the defense? And, if you get a 'not guilty', what happens next?
10) Turning the tables. The hunter becomes the hunted, and the killer's taken the cop hostage. Better hope someone's coming to rescue you.
11) Other.

Loki on his tail, that was one thing. Loki breaking into a safehouse here or there, that was fine, that was all fun and games. Loki interrupting a meet-up with some less-than-strictly-stable Libyan colleagues and nearly getting them both killed when they assumed Daniel was turning evidence on them - as if they weren't local hicks compared to him - well. That was less fun.

He's not really talking to Loki. No, he's definitely not talking to Loki, because Loki made today much, much worse than it had to be, and also he's probably still unconscious. No, he's talking to the crocodiles in the river below. They're nice. Crocodiles make good friends. Daniel is perhaps slightly woozy from blood loss. When he pokes Loki to see if the Interpol agent has regained consciousness after his rather spectacular concussion, he aims for the fresh bruises.

When they take him to the conjugal trailer, he knows who is coming. Detective Thor Odinsson may not fuck him on that no-doubt-filthy bed, but he does prefer the privacy of places like this when he speaks with Loki. After all, Loki is a sharp consultant, and an insightful one, and, well, he sees the way Thor looks at him. As though Loki is the only man in the world.

It almost makes prison worth it. Not quite; Loki would rather be free, at large, but almost, to know that Thor's thoughts are with him even when he is away.

It was a long time ago that Thor caught him. Loki had a heavy body count to his name, all of them slavers, rapists, horrors of humanity that Loki had indulged in, tortured and brutalized with elegant and poetic cruelty. He didn't target bad men because he was a good man, but rather to tear good men apart. He watched from a distance as Thor turned to drink, and raged at the sights he'd seen. He was angry when he caught Loki, dark with the threat of a thundercloud, and Loki murmured in his ear through the interrogation and Thor left with a lighter heart. Lighter, because Loki had stolen part of it away.

He dithers on escaping simply because he enjoys this too much.
