Uptown girl, she's been living in her white bread world

Lady & the Tramp Meme

You know the story. It's a love story.
Our lovers are from different worlds — one wealthy, one not. The poor girl has fallen in love with the Gentleman Snarker, or the Unlucky Everydude secretly courts the daughter of the richest man in town. And she loves him too. Maybe it was Love at First Sight. Maybe she has a habit of slipping out to the seedier side of town for a night of fun. Maybe they've been friends their whole lives and the difference in status never really mattered. Will their love be enough to let them be happy together?

Note that the roles aren't locked by gender: a working-class girl who loves a rich boy also fits this trope, as do two lovers of the same gender.

How To Play
- Comment with your character, putting the standard information somewhere in it. You also may want to specify your preferences or where your character would fall on the spectrum.

Prompts

The poor guy and rich girl mutually fall in love, and neither one cares about their differences in wealth. People around them, however, do, and conspire to interfere with true love.
The poor guy falls for the rich girl, even though he knows that she's out of his league. Undaunted, our hero engages in some zany scheme to get her to notice him or be impressed by him. This usually ends with the girl revealing that she doesn't care if he's rich or poor, and that she loves him for who he is.
The poor guy and the rich girl fall for one another, but he doesn't know she's rich at first. When he finds out, he's either intimidated by her wealth once he finds out, or else doesn't think he's good enough for her. As before, she doesn't care about such things, and has to convince him that he's the one she wants.

[ I'd love to play with you again if you're interested! I'm willing to AU her into the HP world. Maybe some kind of scenario where he's been taken in by her family and they don't know that he's a werewolf. That's just one of many reasons why Remus might think he's unsuitable for her. ]

[ Some people in the magical community scoffed at Mary's family for continuing to raise sheep the Muggle way on the various farms on their estate. However, the Crawley family had not always been magical. Sure their bloodline stretched for generations, but they had been playing both sides, keeping one foot in the magical world and one foot in the Muggle world. It was a difficult balancing act, but they'd managed.

Remus was a young man who worked for the family doing odd jobs. Today, he was warding the sheep against any potential predators. Mary was following him around the farm, ostensibly to supervise. Really, she was just fond of Remus and wanted to spend some time with him. They hardly ever got to spend time alone. Much to her chagrin, it always seemed like someone was interrupting them. ]

I'm glad you're doing this. Some of the farmers have said that they've seen a wolf about lately.

[Growing up in a half-magical, half-muggle home himself, Remus finds that aspect of the Crawley's estate quite comfortable. His familiarity with the muggle world was a large part of the reason why he got the job, and why they're willing to pay him so much for it.

He finds being around Mary comfortable too, though he's always careful to try and be professional around her. He's practiced at not flinching or tensing at the mention of wolves, though his faint smile goes a bit bland at the subject.]

It's no trouble, this is my job after all. This should ensure it won't be able to get on the grounds at all.

[ Mary likes Remus quite a lot, probably more than a Slytherin ought to like a Gryffindor. Then again, Mary's sister is a Gryffindor, so she's never really had the hatred for the lion house in the same way that some of her classmates did. ]

Good. I'd hate to lose any sheep this year. We're lucky to have you, Mr. Lupin. Believe it or not, I don't think our farms would be able to run at their optimal pace without you.

[ While Remus tries to keep it professional, Mary is a natural flirt. She particularly loves flirting with him because it seems to fluster him so much. ]

[Remus has never been good at accepting compliments. And he still isn't.]

I'm the lucky one, I'm sure. It's been a pleasure working for you-- your family.

[That slip of the tongue makes his cheeks burn, and he turns away to perform another warding charm, hoping she wouldn't see his blush. Or read too much into that.]

[ Mary smiles to herself at Remus's near slip. She's fairly sure it was more intentional than he meant.

They finish warding the sheep and the two of them walk for a bit through the gardens that surround the house. She resists the urge to slip her hand into the crook of his elbow. ]

We're going to be having a party here next month. Have you heard about it?

[Remus regains his composure as they walk through the gardens, looking over at Mary with a curious smile at the question.]

No, I hadn't. What do you need me to do to help with preparations?

[It's his job to do-- well, anything they need him to really, after all. Why else would she mention the party to him?]

[ She smiles and gives a bit of a nervous laugh, even though she doesn't really know what she's nervous about. Remus wouldn't tell her no, would he? Mary tucks a piece of her hair behind her ear. ]

No, I don't... I was actually hoping that you'd come. As a guest. My guest.

[Remus' eyes widen in mild surprise.]

Oh.

[It's strange to see her looking nervous-- Mary's always struck him as very confident.]

I'd be honored. Thank you.

[ She normally is... except when essentially asking a man out, which of course she's never done before. Remus had ever right to tell her now, but she's pleased that he didn't. ]

Of course. I'm so glad that you'd like to come. I shall have the best companion of anyone. [ Mary grins. ]

[Dream detective + dream gentleman thief could work interestingly, in a hunter+quarry turned to something else kind of way. Maybe she's in some kind of double agent capacity or a mole in the dream team??]
