bad dreams are ordeals, sometimes seemingly endless. when you wake up, your heart pounds, your head hurts, and you end up drenched in sweat. even if you know none of it was real, it takes a while to orient yourself. it is pretty nice to have someone there to wake you up or to soothe you out of it and remind you that... it's only a dream. ••• the usual rules apply. post with your character and preferences and then tag around, have your characters comfort others.

[ It's not often that Diego spends the night at Eudora's place-- she would never spend the night at his, he lives in the utility room of a boxing gym for Chrissakes-- but whenever he does, he never can seem to sleep through the night. She isn't sure whether this is a factor of sharing a bed, or whether all his nights are like this. As usual, getting a straight answer out of him is like pulling teeth.

Tonight, it's somewhere around 3am when she's stirred awake by the shifting of someone else on the mattress beside her. She blinks, sits up, and turns to see Diego tossing in his sleep. ]

[ sometimes, when arthur has him locked away in his coffin, alucard dreams. often he dreams of when he was defeated soundly, but more often he dreams of the horrors he's endured in the basement before arthur or walter were even born. when it was just him and abraham, dracula and the hunter in a battle of wills.

now he dreams, remembers, and he can feel the burn, the ache, of all the methods of containment that abraham insists on using.

silver shackles. wild roses. garlic. salt. a stake bore through him, trapping him against the wall. seals carved into his hands. he stands against the stone, staring hatefully at the man outside his cage.

you'll come to obey me, abraham says, now, monster. take two steps forward.

he doesn't, he doesn't move, because it will push the stake further into him and because he's his own man, his own monster--but the seals burn, worse and worse until even he can't take it and takes one, two steps forward. the stake presses into his chest, searing, and abraham smiles.

alucard wakes with a start and instead of flowing out of a crack in the coffin as a mist he throws the lid off entirely and sits up, grasping at his chest like he's checking for a heartbeat--but he's really looking for the stake.

naturally there's not one there, but the burn of his seals is because he's misbehaving by being out of his coffin. he'll probably get away with it if he settles back in before anyone notices, but the lid made a hell of a clatter on the stone floor and he's too far gone at the moment to register that if he closes himself up again the pain will stop.
