“That you can find them all in the time that I can get one ... well, it isn’t fair, but. It means you’ve been spending the right amount of time on board, Captain.”
He finishes slipping into a heavy pilot’s jacket and takes about half of the compiled blankets out of her hands. Then he starts guiding them to the roof access ladder, spending a moment struggling with the stuck hatch before getting it open.
“There we go.” He murmurs. “Come on up.”
no subject
She waits until Han is out of the way and just floats up through the hatch, ignoring the ladder. She's not trying to show off or anything; it's just simply easier to do that with an armful of blankets.
Touching down on the hull, she walks over by Han and takes a glance around. "Where's the best place to make camp?"
no subject
It reminded him of those impossible Jedi stories they told kids about.
“This panel over here.” Han says, as he unceremoniously drops all the blankets he was holding in the relative sport he wanted to spread them out on.
no subject
Once that's done well enough, she takes a seat and looks out at space. She waits for Han to settle next to her before saying, "This is really something."
no subject
“It is.” He settles, leans in to place an affectionate kiss on her cheek. “I left the wine down there, though.”
“Rock, paper, scissors to find out who goes to get it?”
no subject
But, he did plan it.
"Yeah, all right." She pulls up her hand and gets it in position.
no subject
“One, two, three. Shoot.”
Han splays out his fingers flat like a piece of paper.
no subject
She sighs and starts getting up from the cuddle cocoon. "Normal place?"

He doesn’t bother to tell her what the label says because it’s in a language native to his galaxy that even he can’t read. Though he did try to do his research and make sure the stuff that he was buying for tonight was nice. It sure had been expensive, anyway.
Most of his liquor is in a crate that he has fixed to the ground (with tech that amounts to being little more than strong magnets) not far from his cramped little kitchen.
Apologies for the delay. You know why. <3
Since she wants to get back to the cuddle cocoon as soon as possible, Carol floats her way over to the ladder and down it. Then it's a quick walk over to the crate and the bottle he described is easy to locate on the top.
The glasses are easy to get as well since they didn't need to use any for cooking. And after a quick walk and float back, she hands the bottle to Han and sits down next to him on the blankets.
"Miss me?"
No worries! Hope you’re having a blast.
Though he seems to have adjusted their blankets to face a slightly different direction that they had been before. There’s a direction that’s better facing the nova that is already in progress. This location, on this particular planet, has offered a display that takes up about 30% of their field of view. So close, but not too close for the vulnerable member of this date.
“Thanks sweetheart.” He murmurs, pulling up the blanket for her climb under. “And I missed you terribly.”
I did!!!!!!!!
Carol climbs back into the cocoon and once settled, steals a kiss from him. "Then I'm glad I hurried back." She holds onto the glasses while she waits for him to open the bottle. Maybe she should've done it, but again, he planned the night so she's going to let him get the glory, even if it's in bottle-opening form.
no subject
“I’ve been flying around the galaxy since I could get my hands on a starship.” He murmurs, as he begins pouring them each a drink. “I don’t think I’ve ever gotten to see a nova before.”
no subject
But for now, Carol smiles at him as she holds the wine glasses for him. "I honestly haven't really taken the time to stop and watch the novas. I'm glad my first is with you."
no subject
He open the blankets and (more importantly) his arms out to her for cuddling.
“I figure neither of us probably gets to enjoy being out in space as much as we should. Not when there’s always somewhere to have to get to.”
no subject
but she's here now and happily cuddling into his arms and the blankets. It's so warm and comfortable that it's going to be hard to leave later.
"You're right. It's always used as a way through instead of a destination. You're excellent at planning dates for holidays you don't even celebrate."
no subject
Then again, if his life has taught him anything, it’s the things you need to work for that are the most rewarding.
His takes a second to settle his drink somewhere he doesn’t think it will get knocked over, then she’ll feel him leaning in a little closer to her. “I kinda like them, now. When I was really young there wasn’t much to celebrate.”
no subject
She nuzzles in against him, also putting her drink far enough away so that it isn't knocked over.
"Do you want to talk about it? When you were young?"
no subject
“After that, I was living on the streets. I fell in with anybody that was willing to give me a little food and a place to sleep.”
no subject
"Then yeah, I guess I can see why you'd enjoy celebrations now. I'm sorry you went through all of that."
no subject
“We all end up going though somethin’.” He says with a fractional shrug. It also could have been worse than it was, he was lucky compared to some. “What about you? Your turn to share.”
no subject
She takes a sip of her drink before sharing her part. "I didn't get along with my parents. My dad was a sexiest piece of shit. Despite me doing well in school, he only had the money for one kid to go to college, and it was going to be my brother.
So as soon as I graduated and turned 18, I joined the Air Force. I didn't have the heart for celebrations when I was kid, then I was too busy. Only in last few years have I really had a sense of celebrating with people you care about. And this would be my first Valentine's that means anything."
no subject
“Seems pretty backward.”
Honestly, so backward that he didn’t even know that there were still places out there where they discriminated by gender. He comes from a galaxy where women could pursue all opportunities that a man could and it had been for thousands of years. Sure, most societies still looked at women as better care takers than men, but that isn’t all they were seen as.
“Anyway, I’m happy to have swept you off your feet before anyone else could, Captain.”
no subject
"It is backward. I only recently got close again with my mom and then she...well, she died."
Carol shook her head and took a long sip of the wine.
"But that's not why we're here. We're here to enjoy each other's company and this great view." She looks back at him with a smile. "I'm glad you did, too."
no subject
He thought she should know, just incase the self satisfied smile he’s been wearing all night wasn’t enough to clue her in. Han seems very contented stargazing on the roof of his ship with Carol at his side.
Rather than going for another sip from his glass, he leans over to her to get a wine glazed kiss from Captain Marvel.
