Well, you've really done it now. You're in a mental institution. Maybe it's a modern facility with a therapy garden, compassionate staff members, and a warm environment meant to help nurse people back to health, or maybe it's a glorified dungeon where the government shoves people they don't want to deal with and patients are abused by staff. Regardless of what it is, you're there, and it doesn't look like they're planning on letting you out any time soon. 

Maybe you're actually not supposed to be there and you're trying to arrange for your release. Maybe you actually are meant to be there and you're struggling with your illness. Maybe you're not a patient at all and you're just there to visit or earn your paycheck. It's up to you.

Things had started out so well. She and Roy and Nyssa had gone out to hunt the remaining Lazarus Pits. At first, the group had stayed together. After they'd destroyed the first few, however, the three drifted apart as they individually tried to track the remaining Pits. She and Roy had kept in closer contact at first, but the more she became consumed by finishing what they'd started, the less they saw of each other.

And then she pulled out her suit. She knew it was a mistake, but every time she went out at night, she saw person after person who needed help. Help she could give. Of course, because she was in it alone, eventually the law caught up with her and the law wasn't as kind as it was in Star City when Quentin was in charge. And when they caught her dressed up in a "fantasy" outfit, it was court-mandated psychiatric therapy for her.

This was not something she was ever telling her brother.

"Do you want to say anything before we finish up?"

She jerked her head up. Right. Group therapy. She hadn't been paying attention. The words were out of her mouth before she could stop them.

"My name is Mia Dearden and I'm a recovering superhero." She grimaced at herself and, by the look on the doctor's face, she'd probably earned herself another day or two here. Great. She shook her head. "No, I'm good."

Something was wrong. She'd gone to sleep the evening before in her rooms in Oxford. The afternoon before, she'd taken out one of the Ashmole books, Ashmole 782, and something had been very distinctly magical about it. In fact, glancing at her hand, she noted that she still had the burn she'd acquired after simply touching it. She thought she could put it behind her, even if a nagging voice in the back of her head said that change was coming.

Waking up in a room that was more hospital than Neoclassical was disturbing. And then she left her room and found that the world had shifted around her. The doctors - if that's what they really were - claimed she had delusions that she was a witch. Ironic, really, if you knew how much she would have given to be normal. It wasn't like she could give them a show. Even if it wasn't forbidden to show off magic to normal humans, her magic was too unpredictable to show off.

No, she had to bide her time and wait until she could make a phone call. One call in to Emily or Sarah and they'd be on the next flight to...wherever this was. And if they wouldn't give her a phone call, she'd just have to create her own opportunity.

That was what led her to her current position, lounging in a chair not far from the nurses' station, watching and waiting for her chance to appear.

Stiles is an in-patient or orderly because there's something supernatural afoot in the hospital (doctor? patient? orderly? who knows!), and he needed access to the place to Investigate. (yes yes he's very heroic, please hold your swooning until after the investigation is complete.)

He cannot keep it the fuck together after being made a surrogate sacrifice and ends up committed for his own good. Symptoms include night terrors, hallucinations, insomnia, alexia, heightened anxiety, and inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality. Please come visit him, his life is Hell.

And then there's the classic 'werewolves and the supernatural aren't actually real, you're just crazy, Stiles' option.

There's something to be said when you're the only one who seems to believe something is off. Squall has stopped pushing the issue when he realizes everyone else in the hospital doesn't care that he remembers being a teenage mercenary who just saved the world from a time traveling sorceress, except to diagnose it as part of his supposed symptoms of schizophrenia.

He doesn't even know that means but he doesn't particular want to be restrained and sedated again for an outburst so he keeps his head down for now, observing. Everything about the mental institution appears normal at first glance but little things start to add up: a different nurse who exits a patient's room after entering, patients who disappear entirely from one day to another only to return later without missing a beat, people rounding a corner and disappearing entirely.

It's enough to drive a guy insane.

Or is that the point? Is he really sick? He doesn't buy it.

He decides to stalk a nurse today and he swears he watches her enter a patient's room, even hears her greet the patient and get a greeting in return, except by the time he gets to the open door to look in, it's a completely empty room. He can feel his hands shaking as he grips the doorway tightly. This is stupid. He's not crazy, god dammit.

The color of Thea's face drained when she saw him turn the corner. She was in the middle of nowhere, at least as far as any of her friends and relatives knew, and she was under the radar. Thea Queen, as far as anyone knew, was still wandering the world looking for the lost Lazarus Pits. Mia Dearden was in a psychiatric ward to deal with her PTSD and anger issues. The last thing either needed was for someone from her past, even someone she'd only briefly met, to find out she was here.

She ducked her head and turned away quickly, hoping that he didn't notice her. Maybe this was a sign that it was time to check herself out of here and get back on the hunt. Or maybe it was just a sign that she needed to move another facility.

But first she had to make sure she didn't get caught by John. She had no idea what he was doing here, but she didn't want word getting back to her brother that she was here. He had enough going on at home.

They're rather kind for a hallucination, at least--if that's what they are--but they keep troubling you to try to escape.

At first, Squall chooses to steadfastly ignore the kid, especially when it's evident no one else can see them. He's already on the staff's radar for uncooperative behavior, he really doesn't need to give them a reason to restrict his ability to roam around.

But it's been a few days and the kid is somehow still there, so either he's a permanent hallucination or Squall is haunted on top of what he's been told he has - which is grand delusions of belonging in a fantasy world.

He's sitting under a tree with a book today and after checking to make sure no one's nearby, he finally addresses the kid.

"You could leave on your own."
