THE MAFIA (?) MEME
There's no revoking your papers, if you were never licensed to kill.

[Blues could feel a sigh coming up, but resisted the urge to let it out. Disdain was about the last thing the rookie needed to see from him right now.

The next time Geo went to pick up something he had dropped, Blues turned around to face him and offered a hand to take a load off the kid.]

Sometimes Tyrell muses on how things could have gone differently. He could have been a soldier, or an engineer. Hell, maybe even a police officer, that would be a laugh.

But he's bodyguard to Viola Cadaverini and there's not much point in fighting it. At least the pay's good. The girl herself used to creep him out, but he's gotten used to her company.

"I don't like how long they're taking in there." He's lighting up another cigarette, his third since he picked her up from the house. They're making deals in there, powerful mob stuff that Badd doesn't care to know about. The fate of the city rests on what resources trade hands between the bosses. Never mind it, he does his duty and the rest isn't his problem. "I thought they were going to have the matter settled quick. It's coming up on an hour."

He rests his fingers lightly on the steering wheel. The quiet makes him twitchy. Badd shoots a glance into the rear view mirror, looking at his charge and past her to the empty alleyway behind their car.

Truthfully, Viola wasn't sure how she felt about having her own personal bodyguard. On the one hand, she was a lot safer than normal and her grandfather was a lot less worried about her after the...accident. But on the other, she did miss the privacy she had before...

Oh well. It wasn't liked she minded Tyrell's company or anything. He was quiet, usually only speaking when spoken to or when he felt it was necessary, and he did his job very well. She had no reason to complain about him...not to mention with how long he'd been with her, she didn't like thinking about what it'd be like without him around.

"...I don't like it either. Usually business doesn't take this...long." she idly tapped the index finger of her right hand against her lap. With that, as well as several other subtle but still existent pieces of body language it was clear she was getting impatient...or worried. "We should give them a few minutes longer. After that we'll...take care of the situation ourselves..."

What, just go in there and snap her fingers and suddenly they all stop wasting time?

Yeah, he could see her doing that. "Yes, ma'am." Tyrell smiled, though he didn't let her see it. She was going to make some poor mobster a powerful little wife someday and then wind up running the whole place behind his back.

Gunshots never sounded like they did in the movies. The little pops could be mistaken for some punk kid setting off fireworks. Badd was trained to know better.

"Get down," he whispered, twisting towards the building's entrance. One hand stubbed the cigarette out on the dash as the other drew his gun. Something's gone wrong.

She wouldn't even have to run the place behind his back. Not like most people had the guts to stand up to her, after all.

Viola got down as soon as she was told to, knowing all too well the sound of gunshots. Hopefully, none of her family was injured too badly or even...dead. It was always a very likely possibility, especially during this kind of deal, but it was one the young woman tried to ignore.

A few minutes passed before she spoke up again, although she was smart enough to keep her head down and her voice low. "...what's going on out there? Can you...see anything?"

"No--wait." The door slammed open and someone came stumbling out into the darkness. His head was down but by his clothes it was Rick. Not a friend of Badd's, but one of theirs. Badd opened his mouth to shout out a few questions. The hell was going on in there and why hadn't he been informed there'd be shooting?

The little firecracker-pops came back and Rick crumpled to the ground. Badd's eyes met the gaze of another man in dark clothes with a twisted smile on his face.

"Shit."

No time to think. No time to ask questions. Badd had one job and he was going to do it the damned best he could. "Stay down!" he shouted, twisting the key in the ignition. Come on, come on...yes, there! The car roared to life and Badd slammed his food into the ignition pedal.

Shit.

There's a lot of rumors floating around about Alice Liddell. Most of them are false, in the way of rumors. What's known is that she's quite young for a boss, that she took over from the Red Queen (at knifepoint, with said point being six inches into her chest), and that she does not put up with anyone's bullshit.

The man who leads Natasha into the crumbling manor was handsome, once. His suit is worn but expensive, only a few holes here and there around the hems of his long coat. Some look just big enough to be bullet holes. The man's grin is almost charming before you notice that it keeps going past his lips and up the length of his scarred cheeks almost to his ears. A Chelsea grin, they called it in the old country.

"Just in time for tea," he says, his voice a low purr. "Good. She does hate it when people are late."
